carbon filter?

Which inline fan and carbon filter worked best for you? was thinking spider farmer or ac infinity but the AC infinity I am reading poor reviews on that render it useless. Spider farmer, can’t find reviews as if its too new of a product.

I get great advice on here so far and am curious what yall will say. I get that some odor will be there. many say it works but lack something in their review I cannot question them on like how long have you had them or how often they get jammed up or if it will keep negative air pressure for odor control etc. Does the duct sit tight or have air leaks? Did it happen often from defect until you switched brands? Things like that which I cannot gauge if they spoke too soon as some have issues weeks later or days later.

any tips?

Also asking because I have much needed supplies to purchase that would make things easier if I get them and would like to avoid return issues that will prolong the labor that is not needed if I had the supplies. Plant risers, drain saucers, cloning supplies and flower room. The smell is already pungent though damnit lol.

It is important to say I need to control odor as much as possible in my case. I know it is possible, I just need help picking one out if I am going to delay much needed supplies. Some of yall might have expirienced that none of them are worth it, I can only check google searches and have not found many forums that cover this but still searching.

Edit: Turns out there are plenty of threads here on this that I can read through, I just figured out how to use the janky search bar on RIU, perhaps it is my browser. I am looking for a good filter mostly, the inline fan should have a mfg supplied or built in speed dial but AC Infinity has a low mmH20 pressure rating. again, still don’t see anything on spider farmer.

I bought 2 cheap no-name tent kits from Amazon and both fans/filters work fine. More important than brand, is negative pressure in the grow space. If growing in a tent, the walls should suck in a bit.

Yes I understood that when I looked into this long ago about the negative air pressure. The DIY filters with pencil cups suck.

Good advice though, hope I am not over thinking it again. This makes the difference between no smell but much more time and labor daily watering or I can have the smell but ease in management daily and still get filter within 30 days but oof, smelly. Whole house smells like it but them goes away then comes back.

Now there are three more plants in that tent so oof lol. Was hoping a newbie thread would help determine what to do faster.

Need a quiet fan, my vortex is too industrial grade and overkill. No brushless motor dials anywhere for it. Or you have to wire it in. Everytime I take things apart lol….. Never quite gets put together the same haha.

This is what I use, three grows and no issues with the filter "clogging". No funky smell in the house anywhere but there is sometimes a little wiff of the girls when I first walk into the lung room.

That looks awesome! never seen that brand, see that’s why I knew I should post this thread. Looks like a dial built in the side right? thats what I am looking for but with stronger mmH20 pressure rating compared to AC infinity for some slack so that the slightest jam doesn’t mean a reassesment of the odor control setup.

Yes it's a low, medium and high switch. I like that better than adding in a speed controller. I found that this set up works well in a 24"x48"x48" tent using the 6" duct hole on the top of the tent. With this tent size and fan at 420cfm on high speed, ive never needed medium or high. Most of time people will draw air out of the top of the tent and pull in air from the bottom. This should create good airflow through the canopy.

Wow, I might have to go with this and just bare with the smell until I can buy at end of month. I would need two for the veg and flower room. 6x3.5 and 5x2. Was thinking maybe I can get a cheap setup for veg odor being minimal already but then again and as usual, might be better staying safe and spending the extra money.

Hazard safety over cutting corners on them.

Usually the fan lasts a good year or two though. Will look further into Max fans and filters.

Sorry I did not mean it that way, was just saying I tried the DIY filters. but lesser expensive is good to know they work for someone here incase I am overthinking due to poor reviews. One of which is the fan duct measurment not being percise to the fan so the slightest leak can suck untreated air into the exaust.

Like I said though your tip was handy to consider for my veg room that doesn’t need the best products. I think the carbon filters with excessive lining and costing more therefore, being the ones that dust jam up in less than a few days even with a dust screen. What brand is that if I may ask?

Oh yeah, I know you didn't mean anything! I just meant to say you can get an inexpensive flter and fan and then add a varispeed for about $25. Thst way you can slow it down so the air contacts the carbon longer.

vivosun char. filter/ fan six inch setup has a speed controller built in line for the fan, mine is on lowest setting .still draws in the sides of the tent ,about 2 months old very happy so far!

It’s not a distinct marijuana smell but a slightly altered one. All the filters I’ve used will sometimes put out the same odor. I don’t care about the exhaust odor so I’m not concerned about it.

Anybody have any good experience with any kind of sound diffuser for intakes? The inline fan and air coming out of the filter are quiet, but where the air gets sucked into the exhaust tube is kinda loud.

Do you have a filter for the intake? I use Dust Shrooms, but they're not cheap and it doesn't filter a lot of noise. Straight pipe is quieter than flex pipe too.

The Vortex VTX is a better fan. I've heard good things about some of the Can-Fan's too. The Vortex VTX has probably the best static pressure.

CFM is the measurement you should be focusing on for a fan not static pressure. The Vortex VTX 600L is less than 300 CFM while the AC Infinity 6 inch is 402 CFM.

While the same size the AC Infinity can move over 100 more cubic feet of air per minute.

While the Vortex fan doesn’t list a db rating I can almost guarantee it’s also quieter.
