MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY HELP(edit) I think I’m struggling with abundance now

I’m on my 3rd grow cycle and my veg always suffers from TERRIBLE magnesium deficiency, I started with filtered water had this issue found out that filtered water strips the SOIL and will not allow sufficient cal/mag to enter the plant, I switched to city tap water PH comes out at 7.5 I bring it to 6.5 with GH PH DOWN but to no avail same ISSUE, I looked at my water analysis and I see the calcium to magnesium ratio is off leaning more towards calcium then the magnesium and I know more then one or the other can and will lock out the other I am so ready to cut my losses throwing everything but the kitchen sink at my plants I’ve tried epsom and TSP CAL/mag (no nitrogen) my battle here is finding a balance with my water but I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO DO PLEASE HELP ME <3

That does not look like low Mg to me. Mg is highly moblile so if your plants can't get it from the soil they will steal it from the older fan leaves and the interveinal chlorosis is quite yellow looking as soon as it happens then brown spots will appear in the worst of the leaves.



What does your water analysis say about copper? It does not take much extra copper to show an excess in the newer growth like yours is showing. Extra copper isn't good for us either so it's not likely that high in your water. I think you have an excess of something or many things happening and it might be wise to follow the advice that @Lenin1917 gave you. I would flush with some RO if you can get it then as the last full wash thru make it a balanced diet of half strength nutes. Don't let the plants starve while drying out after a flush. Flush at least one full pot volume of water thru then do it again with the feed. Decent nutes should have enough Ca and Mg in them that you don't need to add calmag.

Note the leaves on the excess side.



I've been using nothing but RO or distilled water for the last 20 years and barely use any calmag. The ProMix HP I use has lots of two types of lime that supply plenty for a long time tho I plant to recycle it more so will probably need to add more calmag or get some more dolomitic lime to keep the pH right and work as calmag.

Looks like Zn def to me. Cu def usually makes the tips of the leaf very yellow progressing towards the centre of the leaf also it turns black after. Not like nute burn which turns the tips brown!

All that calcium is probably hindering the Zn uptake.

I've had that and treat my plants a couple times each grow with added Zn and other elements to try and make sure problems like these don't arise. Could be one or more of the other things if Ca is the culprit but I've seen a lot of guys on here that claim to use lots of calmag not show problems like this. Half the time it's pH out of whack that screws things up but it's gotta be pretty far out to real screw things up. Hydro is so much easier to get the real pH than soil or even soilless grows. A good flush helps to reset pH levels in pots but is such a PITA.

Maybe not Zn def but a micro nutrient is responsible. Too much copper may be. It is toxic in small amounts but hard to say.

Calcium does affect. The mulders chart I posted is how all nutrients interact with one another.

Your using soil. Don’t PH it down to 6.5 every time just use it straight out of the tap the soil is a buffer so I wouldn’t even check the ph when using soil.

Excess Ca is a direct antagonist of Zn.

The only place where I see things which clould be described as magnesium deficiency is top right corner of the last picture. But it does neccesary mean you are lacking magnesium, could be pH or light as well. You might have deficiency symptoms due to environment, but your plants are looking fine and that lime green top might be just fast growth. Trace element deficiency is rare and calcium excess will antagonize macro nutrients as first. Too much of useless single deficiency pictures on the net, when figuring out the culprit is the thing which should be issued as first.

Mg is the most common deficiciency: it would take you 24 48 hrs to figure out if it is indeed Mg. if not, then go to plan b

So how would you set a somewhat optimal Calcium-to-Boron-ratio for Cannabis? The articles range is a bit broad (100:1 - 12.000:1)
Many bottled fertilizers or soils seem to be rather on the lower end regarding Bor... any (organic) product recommendations?
