As a child we lived in the Philippines for several years (Air Force) and base housing came with a live-in maid. If you didn't want one you didn't have to, but they took great pride in work and cooking. Ours was a very young lady named Julie and she was a fantastic Chef!
My neighbors across the street were Filipinos growing up. The grandmother was always making awesome food over there. Best neighbors ever,. Just wish I would have gotten some recipes. I really miss those eggrolls that were always over there. She'd make probably a hundred at a time, and they always had them.

Lumpia. Like paper thin spring rolls. Yummy.

My husband spent part of a police action at Clark AB. He has tried Balut and said he doesn't recommend it. He did yodel that if you like lumpia try gyoza.
They always had gyoza too. Loved those guys. They're a very family oriented people. Everyone had their own jobs. The grandmother's only job was cooking basically.

Their house was always clean, grass always moved, garden always had good stuff. The kids studied hard, didn't do drugs and shit, and always had awesome grades.

It was good to be their neighbor.

Hell has frozen over. I had a dinner without meat.

Radiatore pasta with garlic parmesan sauce and fresh homegrown peas. A simple salad of lettuce from the garden, onion, cauliflower, cabbage, celery, and lightly dressed with just olive oil and red wine vinegar. It was good but I still feel a little empty. I'll snack on some sausage in a little while.

You neglect the All American Corn Dog at your peril
I choose the Pronto Pup. Growing up a trip to the Oregon coast was not complete without getting a Pronto Pup in Seaside.

Pronto Pup(s), also known as the original corn dog, are hot dogs dipped in specific batter mix as invented in Rockaway Beach, Oregon,
