My neighbors across the street were Filipinos growing up. The grandmother was always making awesome food over there. Best neighbors ever,. Just wish I would have gotten some recipes. I really miss those eggrolls that were always over there. She'd make probably a hundred at a time, and they always had them.
My wife's Filipino, their called Lumpia and her grandmother lived to be 103 and still made them the last year of her life just like that, in huge batches. I'll grab the recipe from her evil mother next time she talks to her. They're awesome. That plus the punzit and pork adobo. One of the reasons I'm constantly struggling with my damn belly :bigjoint:. I have half a tray in the freezer from when grandma visited. She made them in TX and brought them on the plane with her because she knew I loved them so much.

I don't usually eat sweet food but I'd eat that and ask for more :weed:
Me neither, at least not anymore. I heavily reduced my sugar consumption this year. At least 100grams (3.5oz) sugar per day less. Things with added white sugar in fruit juice and sodas, cookies and candy no longer get into my house. Lost all 12 pounds I gained during pandemic just by ditching (white) sugar products and eating way more veggies. Haven’t looked this fit in 30 years. Upside is I can throw a few tbsp sugar in syrup or marinades without thinking about it.

Back to nasi goreng. Asked wife to cook some rice early this morning, bad idea... turned out like some rice-based dough, p.i.t.a to fry. Back to salad and dishes duty for now

Not that I don’t enjoy scooping spices and mixing it up, I need to fill a few containers with pre-mixed spices. At least for nasi and tandoori.

Nasi this time:
- onion, garlic, trassi (shrimp paste), ketjap manis (sweet soy), spiced soy, rapeseed oil, koriander, tumeric, ginger, laos, bit all spice, bit garam masala, cardemom, sambal oelek, chilli powder, salt+pepper, maggi cube, few bits of smoked salmon I had saved for flavoring, and peas.

Chicken:
- generic (s&p, paprika, koriander, chilli, thyme, basil, onion powder, garlic powder) + more koriander + cardemom + cayenne + ketjap manis + some sesame seed, sunflower oil.

Salad:
- red onion, sweet pointed paprika, cherry tomatoes, corn, arugula, carrot, cucumber, with olive oil, oregano, basil, s&p and sesame seeds.

Saté sauce:
- peanut butter, milk, ketjap manis, spiced soy, brown sugar, s&p, chilli powder and bit of water

I recently shifted from sugar to this. It tastes, measures & even feels like the real thing.

I had that only as part of products with a mix of other sugar alternatives but never on its own. Looks like I could use that for lemonade. Any good in coffee?

Dessert today. Strawberry braided puff pastry with sliced and diced strawberry on the inside. Or strawberry strudel. Or just me messing around with puff pastry cause I still have a lot of strawberries. Grabbed some mini bag from bakery section for the yellow stuff, mostly sugar.
