I got my new HLG light today

I just got the little quantum board ~65 watts, I think. I got it for my orchids...to replace my flickering fluorescent shoplights that I've been running for far too long.

The light came packaged very well. I had to screw the driver to the back of the board and clip on the included hanger...that was it. Plugged it in and was impressed by the brightness and color of the 4000K spectrum. My orchids had been suffering so I hope this helps bring them back.

Nice. You know you can buy a seperate dimmer for that model?

Yes, it has a barrel connector, but it hasn't broken....yet.....And it's likely not to get touched for the most part. It's on a timer so I just set it and forget it. It was a step up from my old shop lights and it was one of the lowest priced models that seemed to have enough output for my orchid-light requirements. Even if it does break eventually, it wasn't crazy expensive and maybe those connectors are replaceable, anyway....? I just assume that everything is designed to break somewhere along the line, these days....par for the course....But I won't throw this one to the coals quite yet....heh

No, I did not know that, but for my application, it needs to run at full power, anyway, so a dimmer isn't essential.

Just a cool thing that one can do. You can't dim the 100's.

@tstick What...kind of bug is that on your profile picture?

It's the shed exoskeleton of a Cicada -which is a type of beetle that lives underground and only emerges after 17 years. They crawl out of the ground and climb onto just about anything with those grabby-looking claws and then the adult cicada breaks out of the beetle shell like in the "Alien" movie and it looks like a big grasshopper with red eyes....They make this whirring buzzing kind of sound and it's LOUD! Then they breed like crazy...most of them die or get eaten...a small percentage survives and then goes back underground for the next 17 years. Crazy, huh?

That’s the best part of sitting on my back patio in the evenings. Listening to the Cicadas and smoking a bowl or three. It’s very peaceful to me.
