Girl who prepared it looked like she had a good weekend - that’s not a normal amount of mayo.

Left and in pic below is a dutch kroket (pronounced crow-cat but does not contain either), which is like a log shaped bitterball. Actually a bitterball is a small kroket. Usually contains beef or veal ragout, used to be leftover stew rolled in breadcrumbs, but nowadays come in chicken, shrimp, veggie, goulash and other versions too. Traditionally bitterballs were served in pubs along a bitter somewhat like gin. Classic on bdays, weddings and during sports matches. By far the most popular snack in NL. Based on French (of course) croquette, but deepfried and more meaty.

Damn that hit hards after a weekend of polydrug use and little sleep. Up to 97degrees here over the next two days, all the vanilla ice sold out while I got 2 pounds of fresh strawberries. I’m thinking of hibernating for a few days...
I enjoy your food posts Sativied.
Takes me back to my early twenties, living in New York, working for TWA and flying to Europe for long weekends.
Dining on the local street food cuz it was the best and cheapest.
Amsterdam was a regular. Back when the Bulldog was cool.
Hamburg too. London.
Thirty years ago.
Damn.

Thanks, and likewise, always interesting to see what you cooked. Loved the look of that curry, as well as the pot it was in.

Back when the Bulldog was cool.” That sums it up very well.
