help with picking a new light, need to make a quick decision

i live in a similar climate si i know what you mean, i use a 315 cfm in a 4x4 running medium to help eliminate smell more.
That hot air ouside makes the scrubbed air reak again, maybe not to someone who has no clue what we do but any grower would.
Anyways if your running leds you can get away with a little more heat, when i had a 600hps in there ambient temps were 72 and it would hit 90+ in the tent running cool hoods that were well sealed.
id just keep everything as is if you worry is only the light drawing more power than stated, hell maybe you could run it a time or twi and ask for a new one.
How long have you ran it for?

lol, for sure. i did use it for a while already. been talking with some electrical minded folks. it sounds like it may be that it was probably not tested before it was released....which is the opposite of their claims that it has an electrical safety certification. it seems like ACI is not a company to buy lights from.. i bet it was something like ACI ordered a 240w light be designed to compete or beat the specs on another, so they built a 270w driver and said it was 240...well of course it's better now. I can't figure this out, but it seems that old LEDs had 1000w of diodes and like 400w of driver. the new ones are like 400w of diodes and 500w drivers....i don't understand.

i have run hot grows, but the bud i produced in the garage over the winter with temps between 60 and 80 was the best stuff i grew. My first few grows were HPS 400s and 1000s, and those were all 90+. so, weed lives, but it is a lot denser and frostier (it seemed) when it was colder. my temps are under control though with all that extra cfm.

OK. You sounded new to me, :bigjoint:

the grow location is new...that is the problem. it is not ideal and I am working against a small space. so, it is like my first time...in this closet. it was way easier to do this in a large room or in the garage like i used to. also, everytime i get back into growing the lights change a lot...i used to use only HID because that is all they had.

With LED you can run higher leaf temps than with HID lighting.

i called amazon support. they looked it up and couldn't confirm the wattage was for the actual lighting...will call ACI, just got their number, when they open. i have two separate issues with the light. it barely fits in my tents. i can't center it and use a 6in carbon filter. also, i can't move the driver. i would like to not run a dedicated AC unit for my tents.
You said at full power ballast in tent you were 78*f ? Its almost august? You could be another 3-5 degrees higher why ac?

why do you say that? the map over a 1.7x3 looked better on the s33 vs the 2500 due to the light spread. the diodes are set farther apart on the s33 to smooth the light energy cone.
Lol. I fucked up off memory. I had the 2500 as 30" in length in my head for some reason.

I've also seen some crazy electrical safety shortcuts on some of the bloom plus board.

shortcuts...as in not safe? there are some bad reviews. one issue is that home owners insurane doesn't cover fire or damage due to weed growing...i need safe stuff which is why i sided with ACI in the first place since they had standard electrical certs for the US.

ac drops tent temp about 8 to 10 degrees. i have tried without ac and it doesn't work. maybe into november or so i can drop it or run it to its thermostat. i never gets below 72 or so in the closet outside the tents when the lights are on and the ac is on. i would love to not run the ac it is 850w at the wall.

Not the first time I've heard of issues like this with BP boards. I got shocked multiple times by my first light (TS 600) as well. For some reason if I touched the frame of the tent and the mars shroud at the same time I'd get a good kick and the safety switch would trip..

this, sir, is partly why i came here. this confirms the reviews i saw i guess...maybe the same few people, but the explanation slaughters this light. i am at odds with just keeping the s33. i don't like the viparspectra light and i can't fit most other 240+ watt lights in the tent with all the other stuff. i might just keep the ACI for now....if they come back saying that there is something wrong with it I guess I will send it back then....had I seen another great light of a similar size (needs to be less than 18"x18") i would probably go with it.

I've been using HLG 225's. They're not quite 240w but certainly will fit in nearly any grow as they have a super small footprint. They do run hot though since the LED boards are QB96's that are handling ~220w...basically over-driven. They don't have the spread of larger boards in terms of mapping, but if you've got a 'compact' grow tent, evenness of the spread isn't that much of an issue.

When you say 225, what is that referring to?

If something happens just tell them you were growing vegetables. It’ll all be burnt up they’ll have no idea.
