Some of my friends are very occasional, casual smokers -usually via some kind of pinch hitter or just a joint. They sit/stand around, pass the joint, jibber jabber. But when they see a dabbing rig and the torch come out, I can tell they look at it as being far too involved with the process. I try to point out some of the obvious advantages to dabbing, e.g., inhaling less particulates and so on, but they see dabbing the same way they see smoking crack. Taking the "pass it around" ritual away from them is taking some of the fun away from getting high together.
I will concede that dabbing is more of a solo type thing that I do for my own enjoyment, nowadays. I don't even try to bring it up, anymore, in social settings. I just stand and pass around the joint....nothing wrong with that. I can even kinda understand that dabbing does LOOK like something a never-coming-back-again crackhead would do. It's difficult to make dabbing look classy, in other words.
I wish someone would invent some kind of way for dabbing to look "friendlier" for lack of a better word. I think the torch is what kills it the most in the eyes of the casual joint smoker. I did see something awhile back called an Atmos or something like that -where you could put flower, hash, etc. in it and then the vapor would come up and was contained in some kind of cocktail glass looking thing and then you could "sip" the vapor. I must admit that it did make it look like something that might be fun at a party.
