flowering on 14/10 instead of 12/12

Hi,
I am growing outdoors currently and with 14h30 of sunlight my plant is starting to flower. So why not flower with 14/10 indoors instead of 12/12? Could it be better?

I believe it was established that 12/12 is "the standard" for the best balance for onset of flower & reaching proper DLI.

I personally use 11 on/13 off just to save an extra hour on electricity every day.

Most cannabis cultivars will start flower in the 14.5 on/9.5 off window
I do the same .. ive even tried lower .. down to 9.5/14.5 thats where i started noticing yeild loss on alot of plants.. some did fine but not enough to validate keeping it that low

I was looking at different sunrise and sunset times for different places around the planet. Much different times depending where you are in relation to the equator.
I copied down sunrise and sunset times with total amount of daylight

Columbia never even hits 13 hours a day of light? I just found it interesting.

Thank you all for your insight. Do any of these pics tell any of you if my plant went back into veg mode? I did a 'form' of light dep if you can call it that. An outdoor plant but I put it in a dark place for 12 hours a day for about a week to induce. I stopped over a week ago and sunrise to sunset is under 14.5 hours a day, these pics are from right now.Screenshot_20220807-105923_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220807-105913_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220807-105900_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220807-105856_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220807-105852_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220807-105842_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220807-105837_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220807-105643_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220807-105635_Gallery.jpg

I think ive seen studies on this: higher yield and longer to finish but somewhat lower quality buds. You can start on 14 and then draw down to 12 or even 11 to make up for it

Some people adjust to 12h gradually. The positive is you get less initial stretch and potential to fill out. It could be a positive or a negative depending on the situation. Its a good tool to have either way in the toolbox.

I never saw the real positive and think the turnaround and yield will suffer.

12/12 for flowering is just dumb. We’ve all been taught wrong by high times and people like Jorge Cervantes. I do 7 on/17 off following Joe Pietri’s veg and flower light cycles. Been doing it for the past 1.5 years. I’ll never go back to 18/6 and 12/12. I’m not going to explain it here, just watch the video and listen to Joe. Start at 31:00 time stamp on vid. Thank you, Joe!

There's positive and cons with every light schedule, it all depend on the set goals and environment.

I dont agree with saying following 12/12 is dumb when that's what the natural light hours is for most strains at the equator.

I get that turnover would be faster but I can almost guarantee that yield and effect will suffer. Some for the better and other for the worse depending on the goal and desired effects.

The problem is he's talking about maximum hours of light outdoors is 7 hours without taking intensity or DLI that is a know and used term to explain total light intensity regardless of light schedule.

But he's totally right that most people push light intensity for no positive gain. The lower optimal yields the most per watt and the only way to properly increase yield while not worsen quality is to increase your footprint, not the light intensity.

Very interesting podcast with a lot of good information!

I had to think about that one, I could increase intensity because I'm growing for fun but in a commercial setting where dli is maxed out its always going to be less light overall...I think?
The most important and interesting aspect is the difference in genetic response and triggers that longer light deprevation brings. That's now well understood and studied growing Cannabis.

Cheers!

This is why you should never veg an equatorial on 18/6 it's alien to them I think it causes more herms indoors as a result

I've been trying different hrs for a while now, I've only flowered on 11-13 a few times.

I tried vegging on 12-12 1st I wished I'd tried it earlier, after a few crops of vegging/flower with 12-12 i tried 11-13 after sexing with 12-12.

Again I wish I'd tried it earlier, next time I'm trying 10/14hrs.
