I love experimenting. I still have my 1,000w HPS but I don't use it because of the fire hazard and high energy cost. I've got a nice little T-5 unit that's great for seedlings and veg. I have three small 120w LED panels and the awesome Spider Farmer SF-7000. While cleaning out the storage building last week I also found two blurple panels; not sure what they're good for except cutting the cord and using them for skeet shooting.

LOL, it's about building excitement in the tech ;). If you were to try hard enough you might be able to find something at Alibaba.

The tech difference between HID and LED is really a moot point. The true distinction comes in the ballast. Both HID and LED can be significantly overdriven with diy modifications. Further with the proper ballast set up the power consumption on both is negligible . So realistically it is all about the color spectrum of the lights....whether HID or LED provide the best spectrum for growth is up to you.
Wait till the LCD lights hit mainstream.....those things are majorly bad ass. Perfectly tunable color spectrum and can be run at extremely high voltages putting out mass lumens from tiny size. Cell phone size light is more than enough for 10x10 grow.
Can they grow anything comparable to this though? Doubt it……….

Shut the whole indoor thing down 2 years ago when lbs dropped to $400. Now it’s $300 so all plants are outside now. My electric bills were around $350-400 running lights and 200-250 without. There is a price war at the reserve right now and ounces are as low as $10 :o! Glad I’m retired lol.

Well at least you got to try your hand at it and gain all the experience from it.
Yessir!.... a tent grow should be more enjoyable. The most stressful part about commercial is making sure you never have pests, keep it sterile, don't burn your shit up, you get to week 11, and then it's harvest (I hate harvest), then you gotta move the product in a saturated market, make sure all your paperwork and reporting is correct... complete pain in the ass.
