what type microscope?

Hey all, Im approaching the day I have been patiently waiting for and I want to know what type of microscope to buy. I tried getting the one at radioshack but its sold out online and the stores close to me are as well. So, Im seeing a bunch of cheap kids microscopes online... what magnification is needed? some are 100x, 300x, 600x etc... how strong should it be? I havent used a microscope since i was a child in science class and I have no idea which one to get..... I have a 30x magnifying glass but its not helping. thanks everybody. peace

google...handheld microscope....they have some that are 60 to 100X for $10 bucks

Yeah, the radio shack pocket microscope works great. It's Item # 63-1313 look it up on their website

Thanks guys... got the lil radioshack one. It does work very well when I can hold it steady.... its so cool looking at them under the microscope.. makes me want to get a better microscope for better viewing... maybe next year...

its alot easier to just pull 1 small piece of the bud or a leaf very close to the bud and look at it on a table. have fun with your new toy.

60x is a hell of a lot of magnification for checking trichomes. I recommend a 30x scope.

yeah you do have to be pretty thorough checking with the 60x. tough to get more than 8 or 10 in focus at once.

I got my 30x from Amazon.com for 11.00 from hobby tool supply. It shipped in 3 days, but I'm also in Colorado too.

Good stuff, yeah that's the one you want unless all you grow is bagseed or dispensary clones.

JAKKS Pacific announces EyeClops BioniCam portable microscope

If microscopes like those from Celestron are a bit more than you need, you may want to keep an eye out for JAKKS Pacific's upcoming EyeClops BioniCam, which is obviously aimed at kids but, as we've seen in the past, will no doubt appeal to more adventuresome users out there as well. A follow-up to the company's EyeClops Bionic Eye, this one ups the features considerably with the addition of an LCD screen, which you can use to peek at things at magnification levels of 100x, 200x or 400x. Also like that considerably higher-end Celestron, this one packs a built-in digital camera (no word on the resolution) and an included USB thumb drive to make transfers to a computer as easy as can be. No word on a price just yet, unfortunately, though you can look for it to hit stores sometime this fall.

yeah the canadian radio shack sold out to new owners. it is now called the source at circuit city. they don't have jack for magnifying devices though. I'm about to scout out some stamp collector shops. 30x is about right recommended by jorge cervantes

can anyone suggest a brand of microscope? I've been looking on amazon but cant find a quality 30x illuminated scope. they all look like toys.
