So, your observational bias means autoflowers suck? Smh.....
Well, it's like this: If someone asked me what I knew about them, then I'd have to go from my own personal observation, right? And my experience with them, is that they had a taste to them that was unpleasant....some flavor component that I've never detected in any photoperiod plants. I assume it is the same component that makes them be autoflowers. To me, that sets them far enough apart from what I prefer.
It's clear to me that several autoflower growers are really defensive about any suggestion that they aren't every bit as good or better than photoperiod plants. Maybe I'm just looking for the type of marijuana that was around in the 70's -none of which included autoflowers. If you're younger and never tasted the old school strains that I grew up with and, instead, you've been weened on auto flower strains, then maybe you've developed a taste for them that I have not.

Everything is crossed with something today. There is no weed from the 70s. Sure, some landraces out there, but point still remains.

I just finished 3 Malawi’s from ace, to say the smoke is potent is an understatement!!!

All three pheno’s are extremely potent with a high that last for hours and zero comedown, she lets you down gently.

the longest went 14 weeks but could have gone longer.
Can it be done indoors with a total of 6.5 feet including lights?

Desire for 70s weed largely overlooks the fact it was WAF compared to everything today. Maui wowie was bomb back then and most people like it but find it mild now. Skunk was awesome at the time but was maybe 12 or 15%. Not saying THC is king because it isnt, but a minimum of 15-20%. Jamaican, Columbian, Mexican, it was all excellent but imo the wish for that far back is more a wish for what it was like when you first partied!

I agree totally though that dilution and cross breeding has made a mess out of most "culitivars". Nothing was more Sativa or bomb in my memory than the best Thai bud.

Weak in terms of THC level, by comparison, yes. But those old strains were much more TAF (tasty as fuck). And this was in spite of the fact that hardly any of it was grown well.
I'm no longer concerned with THC level. I've smoked many high THC strains and they didn't impress me much. Give me something that has real strong flavor that sticks in your nose for awhile. I don't care what the THC level is. Just the taste of some of those old strains had a satisfying effect, regardless of THC. But, it's very hard to convince anyone who didn't grow up back then and actually smoked those old strains. Only those people really know what's what in terms of making comparisons. I'm actually one of those old people! :)

"Bag appeal" I love it! That phrase reminds me of the days when weed was sold in bags -usually lick-to-seal type....God knows how many people licked it closed before it got to me! Fuuuuuuuuck! Yuck! Saliva + hands = immunity builder? HA! :) Anyway, I guess I lived through those days...but yeah "bag appeal"...heh heh

There's a couple tricks to make sativa flower more like indica. Foliar zinc will increase leaf surface, which under the right light spectrum will increase the florigen cycle.

Hey bk78,
Seed from Twenty20. It really is everything they promise quality-wise. Very strong, happy up with a controlling mind power at the onset. Flavors are very potent sour and fruit, like. Sour orange flavor mostly. 7oz from a compact mainline plant.

Grow it in your hydro you got some serious bomb but it takes a long time to finish.

Does not create large continuous colas but is quality top to bottom with little larf.

IBL Durban. Finishes well at around 85 days. This is at 4-1/2 weeks. Say 5. It doesn’t disappoint. Killer smell and beautiful buds. Plenty of bag appeal. Outdoor grown any strain it’s a different matter.
To be fair though, a proper Durban should always have "better than ok" bag appeal compared to most cultivars in its league. A proper Haze or Jack, as an example, wouldn't look nearly this good at the same stage nor as a finished bud in my opinion. Durban is an incredible, often overlooked strain because people are so pounded with "this" or "that" new drop. . .. that looks SUPER nice.

There aren't many, but they definitely exist. Romulan is supposedly from the '60s.
The original cut well its possibly the oldest clone only still kicking i aint heard of any other legit clones that old from anywhere else sure in quiet private hands maybe be something a lil older and we all know not all growers keep up to date with the cannnabis world or bother with the community and stuff or even with many people for that matter so who knows of course and it would be cool to hear of something older but i doubt it i agree though theres still the odd pocket of old stuff around just tends to be held tight among few people
