if biological female athletes are having a problem with it, they can speak up. i honestly think it is slightly unfair for trans men to compete against biological women in events where strength matters...not because the trans athletes shouldn't be able to use the same locker rooms, but because most men are stronger than most women, giving the trans athletes an unfair advantage.
but i say it should be up to the people they're competing against to say whether they have a problem with it or not, and it might be a good idea to let the women and the trans athletes work it out for themselves...i don't see a real reason for politicians to get involved, the only reasons they care is to express homophobia, and to appeal to their bigoted homophobic voter base...
