I have been looking into the blumat system. I have almost pulled the trigger and bought the 'classic' a couple of times but having read quite a few people saying they had "runaways", I'm a little concerned since my grow room is a spare bedroom. Did you have any trouble with that when you first started?

This is bullshit that ppl still don't know

Runnaway blumat yeah it happens,

To avoid it put your pot in something, as that something gets full and your media gets wet the blumat shuts off
The blumat carrot shrinks when it's dry and opens up the drip line, then swells and closes it when wet

I use those plastic trays meat comes in at the supermarket, pop my fabric pot in it, sorted
Also with the fabric pot and %100 coco and this method you won't get dry spots in your pots also you can use just 1 cone for anysize pot with this method




If that is your only reason not to blumat then go blumat

Sorry no I don't hang on to that, here are some screenshots from another forum grow I did with a 2x2 tent on its side (thought I'd get a better yield coz more space but the canopy didn't fill coz it sucked getting down that low(2ft high!)
You can see here I'm using 1 gallon fabrics in either meat trays or ice cream containers,in my experience you only need about 3cm(an inch) of hight in the tray and it cannot overflow ever.

The other big tip with blumat is don't run the line to an end,have it cirlle back and connect to the tank(kit comes with a y splitter for this exact reason)
Sometimes you get air bubbles in the line which throws the tuning off and results in runnaway dripper syndrome, with it looped you don't get bubbles in the line

So with a collection tray under the pot and using the y splitter you will do fine

My led strips came in these plastic tray things so I figured I'd just use them ,
The color comes from a nutrient spill, I just didnt wanna disturb the girls and pull the thing out to wash

Looks like more then one “nutrient spill” my 4x8 flood table doesn’t even look that bad after a 3 month flower session feeding 4 times a day?

I thought the blumats don't feed until run off?

I spilled an undiluted bottle of seasol in there, you are welcome to Google what that is

Runaway blumat drippers is a well known issue, it's what we are discussing here now, and I'm hoping to show some fellow growers what I do to avoid it and maybe even make a few friends
