who are our REAL allies?

South Korea has been an ally since the end of WW2...They were defended by a UN coalition when North Korea attacked them in 1950, and have been strong allies ever since. But, are they really strong allies? If this is the attitude of their president, can we really rely upon them if things get tough?
What do the rest of our "allies" think about us in candid moments when they think no one can hear them? Do we even deserve to defend ourselves against their opinions, if we allow the republicans to run rough shod over our democracy? Do we deserve their respect if we allow elected representatives to behave disgracefully, with little to no consequences?
What do we have to do to regain the respect of our allies? Will some of them ever be happy with our behavior?

I have a different take.

He is legitimately concerned by the chaotic performance of our legislature. With HIV involved, expect the theocrat party to vote No en bloc.

I see this as a USA problem more than a ROK problem.

that is a legitimate view, and quite possible, given the history we have with the rest of the planet.
we haven't given them a lot of reason to suppose we're a nation of benevolent philanthropists...
but i would like to know what their real opinions of us are, if for no other reason than to see what they consider as our failings...

It would be very embarrassing for some of our shitty people to kill funding for that. I think he was being accurate, it wasn't malicious towards biden or America in general.

It's embarrassing when a certain faction of congress keep threatening to not pay our bills.

The US has been strengthened by our stance against Russian and Chinese aggression.

Regarding S Korea, Yes, the sentiment toward the US remains strong. Judging S Korean alliance with the US using the actions of this right winger would be as if we judged the US's support for NATO through Trump's statements.

The UN sided with the US, Europe and Ukraine. 141 to 5. The vote was a condemnation against Russia. The dictators are on the back foot. Our place in the world is not what it was and I'm glad for that. Our new role has strengthened us.

Ummm, after four years of the dumpster fire that was the trump administration, one of the parties in your two party system has fully embraced fascism. Don’t be surprised if your allies are questioning your commitment as an ally.

Yes, Biden has helped repair the damage but potential instability is only an election away.

yes, the US is an unstable partner. I was jumping the gun. Today in the UN I saw Biden's international policies realized and extrapolated to how the world might be changing. For the better.

But it is tenuous. Everything could change overnight depending on a few thousand votes in a contested district and we'd be back to Trumpism, so yes, allies beware. Also, S Koreans must have been shocked to see a US President exchanging love letters with the North Korean regime.

Hell has frozen over. You finally said something that makes sense, except for the "we" part. That's a sign of your training.

You should have said, "they", to differentiate yourself from the aggressors, unless you actively take part in their orgy of violence against the rest of the world and / or their own domestic slaves. which "we" (you and I) are part of.

U.S. foreign policy isn't made by the politicians it's made by the people who bought and have dirt on the politicans. The U.S. has been the proxy army for the people that run the U.S. dollar empire.

That's why the "bad guys" are the countries who want to get away from U.S. dollar / federal reserve notes.

Cough cough...foreign empire, most recent Ukraine boondoggle. Not to mention years of paying off installed foreign heads of State and maintaining a global empire ain't cheap.

Flip those couch cushions over and add up the quarters and dimes.
