I use a 600w HPS; cmh or LED wasn't a thing when I was buying lights 20 years ago so I'd use mixed HPS and mH in flower to get a better spectrum. With the added PL4500 I'll use it for supplemental lighting for the last month of flowering in my colosseum style vertical grow so they have a better spectrum and more light to plumb the buds up and make sure they're nice and frosty.

In hydroponics allowing your roots to dry slightly will give you a growth explosion. (Not completely dry of course but damp instead of wet). Also from my experience 18/6 during veg will help with root growth.
