600watt to start 2 clones?

How far should the 600w light be away from the clones? Both clones are already rooted and PPM is around 580 to start. Thanks

I would at least start them about 3ft. Once they get adapted to the environment I would move them closer. Just keep an eye on for heat stress and you will be fine.

Not trying to be cute or anything, but I think the 600 watter should be moved into another room (for storage) - and be replaced with a single little CFL, for the time being. That much power on two clones gives a whole new meaning to the term "Overkill"! Just my $.02!

I agree! I had a few seedlings under a 400w HPS and went out and bought four 23w CFL Daylight bulbs. You thank yourself when you see the power bill. lol

yeah they will be but they dont need to be under a 600 watter, especially not an HPS because they are gonna reach for the sky and be stretched as fuck, CFLs for clones or T5s

600w is just too much for just starting clones; they would do much better to transition them with something much easier. Cloning is very stressful; you don't want to add to it.

Bah,you can use the 600 watter with no problems, like mentioned keep it 3 ft then check heat with a mercury thermomter at the top of the seedlings,be sure the temp is around 75 degrees & all will be well.

Whoever said clones/seedlings will stretch under a 600 watt hid is tripping out badly,a room full of frigen cfl's wont put out the lumens of a 600 watt hps no matter the height,i ran my last bunch of clones under a 1,000 watt hps with excellent results simply because i was too lazy to take them into the mother room, hid's work great for clones & seedlings.

What about starting seeds under this 600w? The temp doesnt get hot at all guys because its in a cool tube with a 6inch active air blower runnin through it. Temp right now by the plants is 80*ish. N thanks panhead, Ill take your advice.
