Update - Day 107

Chopped one of the smaller plants on day 100. She weighed 250g wet and hung for the last 7 days and is now in grove bags to cure. Ended up with 66g dry.

Chopped the other small plant on day 105. She weighed 215g wet and is hanging to dry now. Hoping for 2 oz dry from her.

Both of these girls were about 80/20 cloudy/amber when chopped.

I have one more plant in this grow to harvest yet and she is a few weeks away so will update when the deed is done.

I'm getting a 2nd grow ready and will journal it here.

Good job and harvest. What humidity did you dry to.
Thank you :D I'm using a general tools moisture meter to judge when to start the cure. After reading up, it seems the consensus is around 11-12% on that meter (on the wood setting) equals about 62% rh. So I've been drying them to about 13-15% (a little higher to give me some wiggle room) on the meter and then grove bagging them.

Then I check them a couple times a day for the first few days and let them air out for a bit if needed. So far, so good with the Grove Bags. The 1st plant I chopped and got 1/4 lb dry from has been curing for about 3 weeks now and the smell and flavor are coming on strong now when I sample it.

BTW: I smoked the bug bud after it was dry enough. Not much flavor yet for that plant until cured but nice potency.

Congrats, getting through a grow with good looking smoke is an accomplishment. I'm also impressed seeing a new grower harvest ripe flowers.
Thanks @Fallguy111....this 1st grow has been really rewarding. I just didn't want to pull the trigger early on them and have a several months of work end up with mediocre/mid grade weed.

I've read enough threads on this board and seen enough pics of people asking if they're ready to chop...only to be told to wait for another 2 weeks or longer....so I just followed the advice given to those growers until these girls looked ready and the trichomes were close to where I wanted them.

I guess a lot of new growers just get anxious and cut early because they see sugar coated buds...not knowing how much better smoke and yield they could end up with.

I used these things. Always knowing you Temperature, humidity , vpld and dew point. I use the govees. The picture shows my last 3 hour burp of the Tupperware. It can now wait for me to get to it.
That is a really cool tool. I just looked it up and they are not expensive at all - $40 on Amazon and $30 on sale right now on Govee web site. Will be getting a couple of these. Thanks tiphat.gif

I think last year they were $15. I don't know how long the battery lasts or if it can be changed. Mine is almost a year old.

Glad to see other OG’s on this form that grew back in the day and got back into it as I am one of those guys to that is 59 and been smoking since the 70s nice to meet you.:bigjoint: This is a great hobby! Growing inside now is cool and much easier than years ago. A lot more open now and do not have to rely on just good old fashion hippie technology and I am having a blast doing it just like you!8-):peace:

Hi...thanks for stopping by....yeah, same here...got started in 73. I agree, growing is much easier indoors these days with all the great tech. I've been having a blast too :eyesmoke:

I'm going to start another grow soon once my current grow is done. I have 1 plant left out of 4 and it has about a month left by the looks of it. It should have finished a few weeks ago with the rest but it was a slowpoke and is now in it's 14th week of flower. I guess it will be done when it's done :weed:

Just went thru that with some AK-47 and one of mine went 14 weeks. Got 3 super skunk down to end going on 11 weeks thinking maybe another 3 to 4 weeks.

Here are some pics
Your girls are looking good and it does look like a few weeks left to go. Is the smell starting to get strong? I love those skunky strains.

Here's my GG4 slowpoke at 18 weeks from seed. She's done burned through all her big fan leaves and all the large colas are starting to foxtail. Her sisters all finished 4-6 weeks ago...lol

At this point, I'm just trying to get her to the finish line but it looks like she's a month or more away from being done. Absolutely massive and dense colas...wonder how much fatter they'll get.

Yes that is a nice shaped plant. I wonder if the taste or smoke effect will be different from her sisters. Let us know.
Will do...so far they all turned out different from each other.

The 1st plant from this grow has cured for over 30 days now. It started off with just a straight chemical, gassy smell and taste but has mellowed and has a smoother burnt diesel smell and taste now. Really dense, sticky buds.

The other 2 plants I chopped are at 2 weeks cure and 3 weeks cure. The 2nd one had a lot of purple and the smoke is really smooth with a real earthy, coffee taste to it. It smells more earthy. Big, dense buds with huge calyxes. They really swelled up on this one.

The 3rd one is super sticky, big buds and smells like burnt diesel and pine. Real smooth and tastes diesel mostly with piney, skunky mixed in.

They all start off slow and kick like a donkey after about 15 minutes. Lasts about an hour or so. Need to get me a good dry herb vape. Do you use one or have any recommendations?

Plants look real nice. I will grow in bigger pots next time to get better results but have gotten really nice yields from small pot got a lot of time to care for them. Got a small company so don’t really have to work much only play my guitar, grow, and hang out with wife we have been together for 31 years but she does not smoke. She is a big wine person and does drink beer some times but most often when we get crabs. I think the longer the cure the better it gets usually only touch mine after 3 to 6 months but jar it and add those humidor packs to preserve the right moisture content.

I use a crafty+ Vape. I can't smoke 5 or 6 times a day using a pipe or papers without it causing hacking coughs. They are not cheap but I am old and deserve the best. What do they say buy once cry once. I don't know about the bravada or humidor packs. I used them and I don't think that they are necessarily unless you are storing for years maybe. I just grow for myself and when I have too much I give it away to friends. My goal is to smoke until I am too old or sick.

I mostly roll joints...always have preferred them but I'm old and retired and too much smoking causes me to hack and cough a lot too. So I've been researching dry herb vapes for the last few days and finally pulled the trigger on one today. Should have it by early next week. Needed to get one to save my lungs.

I went with the Arizer Solo 2....got it for $111.xx and free shipping. I like that it's simple to use, easy to clean and provides some great tasting vapor....according to all the reviews anyway ;) It's not really pocket size but it's portable enough to throw in a bag for a trip. But I smoke at the house 99% of the time so that won't really matter.

There's some accessories available that seem pretty cool too. One is a small water bong with whip that's made for it or there's an adapter available to use it with most any water bong or bubbler.

I found this video comparing smoking vs vaping....seems pretty convincing.

I don't mess with the humidity pack stuff either. I just throw it all in grove bags and let it ride....so far so good. Really keeps the buds just right.

I did 5 gal pots last time and had great yields for 1st grow (8 oz dry off 3 plants so far with 1 plant still to chop)...or at least i thought so ;) gonna do 3 gal next time to save on soil, etc. I don't think I need the extra space for autos. The root balls from my last grow would've easily fit in a 3 gal pot.

I retired about 5 years ago...worked for phone co for 40 years...both field tech and CO tech. My first wife would smoke with me but the 2nd wife seldom would. It's just me and the dogs now...and they don't pay me much attention as long as i keep them fed.

Yeah, I think the longer the cure, the better the smoke. This is my first real grow in a long time so I don't have anything that's cured longer than a month at this point but it all tastes better now than it did right after drying.

Have you tried grove bags? I'm using them to cure instead of jars. They are kind of set it and forget it for the most part as the bags keep the buds at 58-62% humidity automatically....no burping or not much anyway.
