When to harvest?

I'm growing a couple of autoflowers, they are on day 102 (15 weeks) from seeding. One of the plants I've harvested the top half a few weeks ago, dried and the buds are in a jar now. About a week into drying the plant started to smell like hay, which I'm told is a sign of a much too early harvest.

The other half I'm letting develop longer. Looking at the flowers under a loupe I think I can make out some amber ones here and there, but it's difficult to see. A couple of days ago some of the leaves started to get a purple-ish color at the tips.

Do I wait even longer or should I harvest soon?

You have at least a couple more weeks to go, check back in two but my guess would be three.

Not knocking your grow, looks pretty healthy for the most part, but what kind of light are you using? This little girl is 105 days old?

I would chop and start over, wrap it up as a learning experience those plants need leaves to make buds

The light I'm using is the sun I'm having my plants inside right behind the windows. During the height of summer the plants received about 16 hours of daylight, with about 7 hours of semi-direct sunlight (somewhat filtered through the glass). These days the sunshine they receive is much shorter.

This little plant has been retarded since the beginning. The first set of true leaves got stuck in the cotyledons and I had to cut them open so that it could grow further.

I have another plant that has developed much more. But that one is still stuck in pre-flowering.

Yeah I know, this one has no more fan leaves. They all yellowed and died off a while ago. Not sure what happened there. I tried to keep it going as best as I could.

Chopping and starting over is not an option right now, I'll have to wait until March/April to start a new set. I don't have grow lights and the sun is all I got

Nearly 2 weeks later and this is how the plant looks now:





It's on day 114 (17 weeks) since seeding.

Does it still look not ready yet? When I shine a flashlight on the buds and look through a magnifying glass I can make out a bunch of amber colored trichomes.

I added a bunch of fertilizer balls over a month ago, also the gardening soil contains nutrients, so I tried picking out a bunch of them from the fresh soil in bag to add them to the plant.

I hung it inside a cardboard box with a fan on top to circulate air. The box is in a small storage room in which I placed some wet towels to raise RH.

I placed a hygrometer inside the box next to the weed and it's been reading between 45 and 65% since I started drying, and the past few days I managed to keep it between 55 and 62%.

It's been drying for 5 days and here's a picture of how it looks like right now:



Should I jar them now?

It’s hard for us to tell you if they can be jarred because we can’t tell how dry it is through a picture. However, if you’ve had a fan on them for 5 days with that type of humidity in cardboard I’m assuming they are crispy dry, so yes you can jar them.

Is that too high? Should I take the buds out and hang them back up?

Or maybe just keep it in the jar but without the lid on it?

Not at them, no. The branch was hanging on a string inside a tall cardboard box, with a hole at the top of the box and a fan (12cm PC fan) placed on top of the hole to draw air out of the box. At the bottom of the box I have small intake ventilation holes, so during drying there was a constant circulation of air going.

I'd keep them in the jar, lid off for an hour and then see where you are at after 2 hours.
