Best micron size bag for flower rosin?

I've been running flower in 90 micron bags, but it usually ends up very "sappy" and runny -sticky, hard to work with, etc. I've tried whipping it, cold curing, etc. and I can't get the texture where I want it. I haven't tried any other size bags, but I've been reading that some people prefer a 120 micron or even a 160. I'm hoping to get a more fatty, waxy product if possible -less like sticky honey.
If anyone can recommend the best size bag for flower rosin, then that would be much appreciated.

Cold cured flower rosin after a couple of weeks. Pressed at 90µ.

I use 90 or 120u bags. Final texture is mostly strain dependent, changing micron bags wont do much. Strains with dry, sandy trichomes tend to wax up and be easier to handle than strains with very greasy trichomes. You can also play with the moisture content of your starting material.

this is some strawpicanna that had very dry trichomes and waxed up over night with no whipping or anything

I run 90 and 120 bags. A lot depends on the strain, temp how its prepped and dried. Some are pressed with 120 and some 90

Thanks just realized i said the same thing twice in one pist lol...its uhhhh pretty good

Pressing is super frustrating at times. Ive tried so many variations it took the last couple years of pratice before i really felt like i kinda knew what i was doing. What i mean is pressing with an actual purpose. Sure people press and get what they get but i mean having an intentional color consistency taste that was the tough part. I look back and wow some of my beginner stuff was so dark just greasy burnt up contaminated mush. Its come a long way...

I started higher and longer 200ish maybe 4 to 5 mins. Over time turned into 175f 30 seconds warm up 45ish pressing. I press kinda fast but ive also gotten used to how fast my "puck" heats up. I pressin a 2x4 prepress usually around and eighth to a quarter. Makes a puck around 1/4 in thick goes inside a 120 bag. On my guage i warm up at 500 psi then once i see the edges of the bag wet out i press up to 3000 creeping up to 4000 stopping once the flow slows down (kinda worthless numbers i just know that on my guage thats what works) its what works for me and my flower so far

I don't have a gauge on my press so I try.to be consistent. I always press 3 grams at 170 now but I started out at 220 which yielded lots of burnt stuff.

I have only played with one strain since I began pressing 7 months ago and the yield and quality varies quite a lot from bud to bud, sometimes waxier than others

Newbie question, sorry for any thread-jacking. . ...in terms of getting that nice waxy consistency; is it best to press fresh frozen flower, dry sift or wet wash/ice water wash?? @waterproof808 when you say "play with the moisture content", is it better to ADD or REMOVE moisture for the sake of gettin' dat wax?

IME, drier flower can make more stable rosin but it can reduce your yields slightly.

Whenever I've grown flowers for smoking, I always appreciated getting a really "oily" strain where the trichomes almost explode at the slightest touch. But, it seems that pressing those types of strains produces a very runny final product. I've tried whipping batches until my arm is ready to fall off. It starts to take on that shiny golden sheen for a minute and then it just settles back into almost a honey-like consistency. It's not that the consistency is bad, but I'd prefer to get that waxy stable rosin like @Redlig gets.

If I try to cook it, it just gets darker and darker but the consistency never changes. I've pressed hot, not that hot...short...long...minimal pressure....max...etc.

Just out of curiosity...When you get that sticky, runny honey consistency, is there a "best" way to get it to budder up? Cold? Hot? Whip? Tell me everything please.

Ehhh you cant really press fresh frozen too much moisture. Usually people use fresh frozen for bubble or dey ice hash then press that. The closest you can get the fresh pressed flower is pressing as soon as its at a stable reasonable moisture content. Usually when my jars sit in the mid 60s then ill press.

I love a buttery concentrate. Its not even that it tastes different, just easier to handle. I prefer almost a cookie dough consistency. Mushy enough to scoop without breaking the hot knife but not so wet its "stringy"

I was beginning to think that I was going to have to make a bunch of bubble hash and then press that in order to get the budder texture, but, man....that flower rosin above looks great and I'm assuming it would be closer to a full-spectrum product as opposed to hash rosin, too.

Hard to say without seeing the flower. It could be flower feel or temp...by feel i mean getting used to applying the right pressure. It actually takes WAY less than people think. I was guilty of too much pressure too quick and burst quite a few myself. I look at it this way, i want to melt/steam out the resin but not push so hard i get impurities water bust the bag rip paper ect. Im also willing to give up yield for quality so i press low with light pressure and back off if it starts turning darker than id like. Another tip is prepressing and removing stems/anything that doesnt contain resin. Stems rip tear soak up rosin and take up room inside the bag. Sounds excessive but every little bit helps.

Thats why i love low temp pressing saves so many terps. I used to hate my rosin because it always tasted so just ehhhh now the nose and taste is way better. Pressing dry sift is fun too heres some other example of different plants pressed the same way just came out different... this was dry sift from trim. Don't have a before if the real dark one but the trics were really amber on that trim so was the sift.

As an aside, I've started decarbing my used pucks and making infused oil for gummies. And so much rosin stays in the bags I am recapturing that to a large degree. An ounce of pucks made a couple hundred strong gummies

Put a smooshed 90 micron bag into a 120 and just repress? Do you increase or decrease press temp? Or is it even worth it at all??
