Day 28 leaves going light and some yellow help

Keep having this same problem and I can’t put my finger on it. On certain plants alot of the leaves are going lighter green and the older ones yellowing. I know this is normal but not this early. I’ve tried a slurry test and the ph comes out 6.3, the ppm isn’t bad either. I’m using the recommended dose of nutes.
I use plant magic soil which is ph prepared with lime anyway along with plant magic nutes. I have Led HLG lights. I feed when the top of soil goes dry I know I don’t over water. I thought it looked like N deficiency but I’m feeding what’s recommended. I do have a small thrip problem but it’s not too bad and it’s under control. This happened on my last grow too and money of the leaves were either dead or dying by week 6.
Any help would be appreciated

Your watering technique is not recommended. Guessing you’re giving far too little. Watering by weight is recommended. The old dry surface or dry to my second knuckle is not the best.

I would give cal mag. As to liquid I recommend using at least 20% of your medium volume in liquid. You want to give enough that the entire volume of medium is wet after you feed. If you are not already watering by weight I’d recommend you do that as well. A 5-gallon container should be able to take a full gallon of liquid whether feeding or straight water.

Just how much Nitrogen is the recommended amount?? Did you decrease Nitrogen in flowering vs vegging?? What is your calcium source??
If they already have a good calcium source, Id give them Epsom salts.

Its a myth to cut Nitrogen in flowering. In an 8 weeks strain all the really need is an ever increasing amount of all nutrients until week 6 where nutrients can be cut back 30%-50%.
All Nitrogen is is Protien. Weed produces more mass after flip that they ever did in veg. Hormones too. Even see a bodybuilder cut back on protein when trying to gain mass?? Nitrogen is also responsible for cell division, and immune system. Protein means of first importance. All metabolic processes requite Protein/Nitrogen. Humans eat protein and out bodies turn it into Nitrogen. Plants skip this process, and just require Nitrogen.

Also in an 8 weeks flowering strain they can benefit from a P-K boost in weeks 3-4, and an epsom salts boost in weeks 5-6. Epsom salts also contains Sulfur which as been linked to Terpene Production.

I water about20% and get very little to no runoff. I'd recommend watering20%, if you get runoff let it sit and wick for an hour, clear runoff that may be left and lift your pot. This is full , wait 2 days and lift your pot again this is dry. Once you feel the weight watering becomes second nature. When it takes longer between watering (50-100% longer) harvest is just around the corner.

I am not using Plant Magic soil, but I am using their nutes at the moment, I have just changed back to them and I used them for a long time before. I have never had a problem with them.

I have only ever used the Plant Magic Old Timers Bloom along with the PK 4-8. The Bloom is NPK 3-5-4 and the PK 4-8 is NPK 2-4-8. You should be using the Bloom and the PK 4-8 together.

So you cut back Nitrogen after week 2?? Big Mistake if thats the case.

Hydro Gardens who have been making Plant Specific fertilizers since the 80s, and fertilizer in general since the 70s says going by Tissue Analysis weed needs the same amount of nitrogen, as it does Phosphorus, and 2x the amount of Potassium as a base formula. And then P-K can be increased from weeks 3-4 in an 8 weeks flowering strain, and Epsom Salts can be increased in weeks 5-6. The only thing that differs is that eack week the base formula, and Epsom Salts PPM is increased, but in the above designated weeks they get an extra boost or with Monopotassium Phosphate, or Epsom Salts.

Their base formula is 4-20-39, then add 15.5 Calcium Nitrate, and Epsom Salts. Equals 19.5-20-39. This is the base formula for all stages. Only thing that changes is weekly PPM.

Looks to me the plants have Nitrogen, and Calcium/Magnesium deficiencies.

Their bloom packs N to keep weed green. Also it’s a little heavy in P which causes issues later in flower.

I use them like this.

Grow until stretch is done. Then 1 dose of bloom for added P to help bud formation. Then after that go 50/50 until last 2-3 weeks. 50/50 gives a nice 1-1-1 balanced feed. I’ve experimented with adding their pK boost. I honestly found it works best with their grow. When mixing grow and PK boost it gives you a 1-1-2 ratio which is ideal for late flower when K is most needed. Their pK boost is actually a 2/4/8.

I also found feed, feed, water works best than feeding every time. Just remember to try and not get lots of run off when using just water as this will strip the N from the soil. N is the most water soluble nutrient.

I also have very soft water so I add 1tbsp of lime per 10L of soil to stop acidification

One last bit of info. I found a few times I was lacking manganese. Manganese is hard to absorb when there’s a high organic matter present. I fixed it by introducing 1g of manganese sulphate once per a week from the seedling phase.

This pic looks very much like Manganese def. similar to magnesium but the margins of the leaves stay green and is not solved by introducing Epsom salts as I found out in my own experience.

APC pure do a manganese sulphate. Just don’t breath that shit in as it’s really bad for u!
