Is it legal to trade seeds?

If legal, I'm wondering if anybody close to me has seed to trade. Calgary Alberta. I have outdoor sativa, a mix of Strawberry Cough and Raspberry Boogie. I didn't notice any difference between the two, they appear to be exactly the same. Grown in certified organic soil, no chemicals were used. I would trade for indica or sativa, indoor outdoor, organic or otherwise, doesn't matter.

Seeds are legal but anything like selling or trading on RIU is against their rules. THC Farmer has a thread solely for selling, buying or trading. Free

I quit it because the last time I posted seeds they blocked the post and wanted me to pay as a business. Without explanation and after selling a lot of seeds without a single complaint. Everyone else’s post stayed.

Thanks.. It's now legal to buy seeds in the store here, but they are very expensive. Like $50 for 5 seeds. I want to experiment and see what grows best where I am, so I don't want to spend a fortune to mess around with something I might never grow again. I have tons of Golden Rod which attracts tons of Aphids. The sativa that I'm growing now did pretty good after it was about 2' tall. Getting it to that point was trying.

The DEA just ruled seeds are farm bill compliant even if they can be grown into THC plants. For the same reason eggs cannot be considered "chickens" cannabis seeds cannot be considered "drugs"

This isn't the reason it is not allowed here. It's because the site should not have to be responsible for peiple taking money and not giving seeds or the right seeds, and they shouldn't be liable. They are the Mods, but this is anybody's site that wants to join and be respectful. If i was a mod, i wouldn't want to be responsible for these things when they go bad

And what basis would some sniveler have for involving RIU? Doesn’t appear to happen on the other sites. Only true weenie would try to complain to the site.

It would be a bad idea to have seed trading. So called trading would inevitably turn into people selling seeds. You'd have people bypassing the the paid advertiser requirements. There are already seed vendors in the Rollitup Advertisers section.

There would also be those that purchased seeds from someone and for some reason or another were unsuccessful in germination or a successful grow and would start inflammatory posts about how they got ripped off and so and so is selling hermie seeds, etc... There are plenty of other platforms that already allow open trading of cannabis seeds and some are devoted to nothing else.
