OK, I gotcha now. I'm not looking forward to the odor to come, I'm growing hidden so its not fun. I can only grow low odor strains, So my strain choices are limited.

But I hear you. I swear if I could I'd roll around in these northern lights buds, they smell like Honey, pine, (or the smell of a dollar bill if that makes sense. just delicous. If they ever make a cologne called Northern Lights, count me in.... (Durban Poison too)

Thanks much for sharing, I'm taking notes ! Your mainline is a work of art, nicely done. I'll be trying something similar next grow, but for now mine is a mini verison of yours. Is your grow up as a journal somewhere? I'd love to watch this one unfold.

Here is an example of how "out of control" things got for me in my last grows. The other thing I noticed was that only the main stems, not the lesser stems, produced buds that weighed 10X more than the lesser stems)... As a new grower, I ignored people that said to get rid of the lower and smaller stems, I see why now. They arent worth a dam in weight and potency ! There were also way too many leaves and it got out of hand defoliating---such a waist of soil resources to be tossing away huge bundles of good leaves..

Here is one of my main tops trimmed with a wet weight of almost 2 ounces. I'm hoping I get 8 big juicy colas similar to this mainling. This top came off a main chute, same strain.

Here she is out of control and way too big for my small pot ( 3 gallons) --- The roots got so thick I had problems later in flower, I'm thinking not enouh soil for the plant size and too many nutrients for such a small amount of soil. It was A LOT of work to train this mess, but I did get the tops even in height. Mainlining makes this so much easier !

And here is a final pic of the problems I'm trying to avoid this grow. I made it to harvest, but things got really rough. I'm hoping less tops. more soil, and less nutrients keeps my plant healthy in flower. We will see....

I don't have a journal but I will keep you posted with pics throughout the flowering stage. I've also made the same mistake of keeping the lower stems and those are always fluffy low quality bud, I lollipop now. We spend so much time taking care of these plants that sometimes it leads to greed which is counterproductive. Now I just focus on having 14 main stems, each well spaced and lollipopped so that there is no waste. After it's stretched, I keep only the top 50% of the length of the stems so that each produces one solid top shelf bud.

We are on the same page, no question about it, please do keep me posted on your grow.

One more week until I install a ring, she is growing slowly but now that I have some leaves, she should pickup... Pictures taken after training her down again....

I flipped 12/12 early and am one week in. I think another week or two in Veg would really boost my harvest weight but I need to keep this grow small. I'll removes some lower leaves in weeks 2 and 3 but for now, I think she needs some "solar panels" to help her get roots down..

End of week 1 Flower ( or pre flower as some like to call it)

Looks great! Nice job keeping everything low and flat. I cant wait to see how the colas form. Are you trimming undergrowth?

I'll update pics on Saturday if anyone is interested, and that will end week 2 of "pre flower". She's got leaves and soil now and is taking off...
Looking forward to seeing the progress of your plant. I stop trimming once I flip and let it grow into a bush of a plant. Then on week 2 I lollipop. It's looking good so far, I just want it to have some of that flip vertical grow first.

Nice, I'm feeling my way through this grow and will follow your lead on Lollipopping week 2, that should work! It should also be the last chopping I'll need to do. I want her nice and calm through flower..(without too much stress)...

I'm keeping my feedings very light and am using only Dynagrow Foliage Pro (Grow Nutes) until week 3 of flower or so. I'm still undecided as to if I will be using bloom nutrients at all... (I'll probably mix 50/50 Foliage Pro with Bloom and feed till the end.)

If anyone has any experience using Dynagrow, I've attached the feeding chart I'm using (at 1/2 recommended doseage) and could use any tips you might have. I've heard this stuff is hot so I'm taking it very easy.....

Here is a pic from tonight:

I'm growing one plant at a time and cant smoke my weed fast enough! Its piling up and I give away buds all the time. I have a few big northern lights buds left from 2 grows ago and they have been curing over a year now ( too long)

If I grew anymore than one plant at a time, It would be a waist of good weed.
thats o not true just make hash with the extra it ages like fine wine. and it really fun to make too

I have only ever mainlined because I have the same problem as you, lack of space both horizontally and vertically. Today was probably my last adjustment as I’ve flipped to flowering lights last night.

I make sure it’s a flat plant with no vertical grow right until I flip. The last important lesson I learned was to create enough space for each branch. Initially I would go for as many branches as possible and it would be saturated and the branches would just be going into eachother. That causes the dominant ones to overpower the smaller ones and even though some of them were the earlier, older and stronger branches they would simply be disabled and stay beneath the canopy and not give any proper bud.

More isn’t necessarily better, now I have reduced the number of branches and make sure that each has some space to develop.

It's been a while and am wondering how this is coming along ? I just finished week 4 flower and the buds are starting to fill in.

My plant seems awfully short for 6 weeks of Veg. ( 5.5 weeks to be exact). I wonder if it will make it.

It's growing sideways which is odd.... Anyway, I thought I'd check with the experts here to see if this is worth continuing to flower. Should I flip 12/12 now or wait?

I boiled my soil this time, not a single fungus gnat (yet). Myccos and great white added back to hopefully get the soil living again. I dont like boiling the soil, but I hate aphids and gnats more.

12 hours later, plants are funny buggers that hate to be trained....

I use the 2 to 1_ratio. For every foot up two out.
