UK GROWERS AND ELECTRIC PRICES

Hello, we all know how much the electric now costs. Are many people quitting the growing game and either stopping smoking or now buying off the meter by-passers?

Reason I ask is because I have developed a few new grow related products that I had intended to introduce later this year but may now have a rethink if the game is on the decline, I don't want to invest in a dwindling market . I have noticed some of the larger grow shops seem to be having supply difficulties? This could be true or it could mean they are struggling to pay their suppliers.

I was talking to some lads who buy in bulk and they recon the Albanian lads are selling for £100 oz. If so it is hardly worth growing. Maybe it is full of PGR, I don't know but they are obviously by passing the electric.

I've not noticed problems with suppliers but I don't have to stock up that often.

Everyone I know IRL are still at it. But I'm not sure cost of living has caught up with most people yet and come April it's going to be painful.

I ain't prepared to risking stealing electric because John law doesn't give a fuck about me but the utility company would bum my brains.

I guess it depends where in Ireland and I know little of their laws.

Solar is expensive to start up and the batteries are expensive...I don't know the cost over there as I am in Virginia...but I did hook my pool up to be run on solar pretty cheap...just 1- 1.5hp pump so it was pretty effective...was costing about 50-60 a month to run the pump...I think I 8nvested about 200 for the panel, the battery and inverter.
A good way to get someone is go up to their house, cut the tag on the meter, pull the meter and smash it on the ground and run...here fines start at about $100,000...so yeah stealing electricity can get expensive if/when you are caught...here, they would know within a week if someone were stealing power and with all the smart meters it's not hard to figure out...they WILL catch you and they will prosecute you.

I can only fit 6k on my main roof but have an extension roof and the rest will be wall mounted.
80% of it is in the ideal position.

There's no point feeding back into the grid these days either as the pay in tariff takes the piss.

I was conned into buying panels about 8 years ago before I started growing (been growing 6 years). It was only since I have been growing they have become useful, and then only to a certain degree and obviously certain times of the year in Northern UK.

I dont know anybody that doesnt steal the electric, surely not even worth it if youre paying

everyone scared of the smart meters but you are taking the electric from before it ever reaches the smart meter, everyone in the country should do it the prices are a joke

Never knew anyone paying for it that got busted tho and i know plenty stealing it who got caught might take decades but they catch up to u eventually mate so take what u will from that thats my experience anyway

Can see me re routing ac lights back into my house like, I’ll tell u that for nowt! Probs works out cheaper to run 2 flower rooms all hps on alternating shifts and heat your house with the air cooled lights than it does to use leds and exhaust hot humid air out of your house (don’t want damp house) and pay for gas to keep ur heating on. Theyre fucking us every which way they can atm.

Sealed air cooled leds could be a good shout, cut quantum board size holes in rigid ducting and silicone them in, then use that heat for the house.

or water cooled With radiators would also be good.

yeah it’s costing a fortune, but high quality product sells itself, might have to drop to 160s in bulk but at 40z every 9 weeks ish it’s still 6 grand and not to be sniffed at

I am currently burning pallets and scrap wood I get for free. Each week I stop off at my local Jewsons, they have a skip full of broken wood and pallets. My house is toasty for free.

That is exactly what I have. There is so much waste wood available it is untrue. I just bought a cheap circular saw from Argos, I can cut up a pallet in about 5 mins flat. I also trawl Faceache Marketplace and there is always a builder wanting to get rid of the waste wood and pallets at the end of a job.

Thus is exactly what I was pondering on doing too.
Though I would like a hybrid system but apparently that would be dangerous.
Though I think it's possible with a standard boiler and tank ?

I got every piece of old wood out of that, the builder couldn't believe his lucj, saved him a fortune and I got enough wood to almost last the entire winter. It was all nice old hardwood too. The only draw back is the ash gets full of nails, I just run a old speaker magnet over the ash.

The only draw back is the ash gets full of nails, I just run a old speaker magnet over the ash.

I live at the end of a long rough lane with a neighbor half way down. Few years ago I was getting burst car tires every week, the bloody idiot was burning pallets and using the ash from his stove full of nails to fill the pot holes.
