Setup advice for 1 plant 4x4 720w LED

I understand plant count issues but I don't know of any legal state that has less than a 4 plant limit. 4 plants vegged for 4-5 weeks is going to yield as much and likely more than 1 plant vegged 8-10 weeks and you trim a month off the process.

Our rec limit here is 3 per person but ya i here what your saying.

I suggest you go with 2 plants. Have you ever grown out multiple plants to wind up with a runt or a plant that just seems to always have issues while the others are growing along happy as could be? What if that is the seed you pop? With two plants, you would at least have a backup in case that happens or something, anything, goes wrong. And if they both turn out to be great plants, so be it, they'll still be pretty massive. Train each to fill out their 2x4 space and you'll have a hefty haul.

I know exactly what you mean I get at least one every grow haha So I have decided to go for 2 I was thinking of mainlining but that needs to be done early and in the final pot right? So if I'm going for 10 gallon when do you think is a good time to transplant? can I go from 3 gallon to 10 gallon? Like what would be a good transplanting schedule if I plan to mainline..?

Hello everybody again and thanks for all the help so far. I have changed my mind about the lightning and was thinking of investing in a super fancy light that I can use a good while down the road and I'm willing to put down 1000$.
After some browsing it has come down to between these 2:

I start training toward mainlining as soon as feasible, before moving to their final pot. I use those green silicone coated plant ties to tie everything down, so it's super easy to undo when it's time to pot up. I start with a 5inch square container and pot up only once, into 7 gallons. Some go from 1 gal to 3 gal to their final pot. That's a lot of work that I just dont have the time or energy for these days, and ultimately it's an unnecessary step. Since you want monsters, go ahead with 10 gal or larger so you have less to worry about regarding topfeeding etc. The larger the volume of nutrient rich soil, the less often you will need to feed! I have to top feed every couple weeks in 7gal, so definitely go bigger.

Go with the HLG between those two lights. Also, you need to consider the strain if you are just growing 1 plant and go with something high yielding that likes to grow multiple thick bud sites, like a critical or Sour D cross. Grow a strain with reliable hybrid vigor. Growing multiple plants will increase your likelihood of success, because you are splitting your risk. Multiple strains means less chance of botrytis destroying your grow or if a plant goes downhill because of something you did, you have backup plants and are more likely to make it to harvest. The only reasons to grow a single plant instead of multiple plants is a # limit, or if you are just doing it for novelty.

My last round was a single monster because the other 3 turned out to be males which were culled. I didn't fully mainline her because she had a beautiful structure all on her own after topping. I veged her for almost two months, but around week 4 of flower, everything went to hell in a handbasket. I got her across the finish line, but she looked like she had been through a war. It wasn't a great harvest and I have regrets that i didn't pop more seeds to cover the loss of the 3 males. I will always pop more seeds than necessary from here on out. Lesson learned and relearned every day when I puff on that meh weed, which is all I have atm because I only grew the one plant.

Ok so no problem going from like a small container to a 10 gallon then, thats what I had in mind.. It just feels stressful and unnecessary transplanting so many times? I'm sure nature knows what to do

I have some RQS Green gelato seeds here at home and she is a very high yielder but yea I know what you mean I have decided to go with at least 2!
I wanted to take on the 1 plant challenge again mainly because last time I did It didn't turn out well but that's because it was an outdoor grow and she got every pest possible and just eventually gave up
I really like the HLG and I know that they were first with the technology etc..And correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the specs on the Spider Farmer just overall better? looking at the PPF 2937umol compared to HLGs 2100umol? And Spider Farmers true 1000w compared to the HLGs 715w? Then there is HLGs 2.94umol/J compared to Spider Farmers 2.9umol/J but is that really much of a difference?

Aaah man that sucks I had a similar problem last year but that's the whole point though you know you live you learn and you just cant win them all

I would look into bar style lights with the bucket height an the need for 20in between light an plant your running out of room real quick, The bar lights allow the plants to grow closer with out getting hot spots

I switched from a 600w hps with supplemental 100w (actual draw) leds in each corner to a mars hydro FCE-8000. A little bit overkill for a 4x4, but I run it at 75% which should make it last longer... in theory. I chose mars over hlg, and other high end fixtures because I'm a cheap bastard. But also because reviews of the light have been stellar. I have ZERO complaints about this light so far.
