Two issues: Will Trump's federal tax crimes be prosecuted? Will Republican Special Counsel be fair?

32,827 views Jan 14, 2023 #TeamJustice
Two timely questions: Now that the New York prosecution has proved the tax fraud crimes of the Trump Organization beyond a reasonable doubt, will the feds finally bring federal tax charges against Trump.

Second, can we expect long-time Republican Robert Hur to serve fairly and apolitically as special counsel looking into the Biden classified documents issue.

When oh When will the DOJ get the balls to enforce the law? The Country wonders?
He has- he's appointed special counsel. Jack Smith's ask is the names of those on the grounds who say they looked further properties and found nothing.

If they haven't already check Florida, it's rife with storage units due to no basement or attic; shit could be anywhere.

I have no confidence in Garland or the DOJ that is led by him...He has had literal years to indict one single person. He has had years to find eveidence, even though one of the cases is open and shut document retention, which they routinely prosecute and convict people for.
If he EVER does one fucking thing, i will apologize profusely...But i'm sure as fuck not holding my breath.
Maybe he's waiting for trump to die of old age to prosecute his fucking corpse

that doesn't seem to lead to a trump prosecution, if anything it seems to lead to subordinates to charge so they can avoid charging trump...
No because there is outstanding files..the rat has to be cornered; asking for those names helps to close another door the rat can't escape through. In cooking terms it would be a true slow reduction.

I understand you're frustrated no more than myself because of the SS thing. 45 really hurt me Roger. Anything worth having is worth waiting for..timing now is everything. This is not 45s admin and we don't hunt innocent people to jail..going through the steps with a past president is historical and Garland will too be judged- in the past we've not discussed strides made into an investigation. Most people don't ever know they're being investigated unless they've been indicted.

This is the more normal DOJ- you're not getting shit until it goes down. Period. Garland has said same. No Chopper Talk of lies.

The New York Times just reported that prosecutors with the Manhattan District Attorney's office are revitalizing their criminal investigation of Donald Trump. Specifically, the Times reported that, "Trump's former lawyer (Michael Cohen) meets with prosecutors about hush money" Trump paid to Stormy Daniels.

This video discusses the rocky history of NY DA Alvin Bragg's investigation of Donald Trump and where things might go from here.

I’m starting to think your blind optimism is jinxing the whole thing.

I just know how the system works, when it works and it appears to be working on Trump now. It was a long time coming and I looked at the possible reasons for delay, including political ones. Garland is covered by going from the top to the bottom and congress had delays with the J6 committee, but the timing worked out pretty good. The republicans have a stifled and very shaky majority after an expected red wave and all this shit over J6 will go to trial in 2023 and 2024, an election year. Kevin's majority could be looking at indictments of it's members over J6 before this congress ends and Santos can't vote from a cell. Joe, Nancy, Chuck and Mitch took the car keys away until fall and their only option is to try and hold the country hostage and fuck the economy, for us up here too!

Donald will be indicted soon according to the experts, even Glenn thinks so and so does Donald, based on the amount of freaking out he's been doing lately.

It won't stop Jack from indicting him, looks like Trump will be back on some social media. Maybe he'll hang himself, again.

All that means to me is that it is past time for someone to indict the dirty piece of shit...And EVERYONE connected to him.

i don't think garland contributed to a single fucking one of those things.
i do not think garland is hesitant to indict or try normal people, but he apparently is fucking terrified of indicting a politician...it appears he thinks image is EVERYTHING and has some kind of unreasonable fear that he will be seen as politically motivated if he prosecutes a republican.
remove him from office and put him in uncle thomas's seat...that is where he belongs, on the supreme court, not the DOJ.
Put someone who doesn't give one fuck about image in the office and let them actually get something done.

Well Garland did set himself up to be a judge, of two special counsel's reports and recommendations. It is his call if he differs from their assessment, but it has to be public, hence the report. If Biden is innocent of wrong doing according to the report and recommendations by a Trump appointed prosecutor, then it will cut the feet out from under the GOP in congress who will try to impeach him for it. With Trump there is little doubt as to Jack's report and recommendations, they will come in the form of indictments. I figure if Garland held Jack back without good cause, he would resign and so would many on his team, let Garland deal with that! The fact that there have been no leaks or resignations from the DOJ says a lot about how things are going behind the scenes, even after all this time.

Trump mistook photo of rape accuser E. Jean Carroll for ex-wife during deposition

Former President Trump mistook his rape accuser, E. Jean Carroll, for his former wife, Marla Maples, in a photo shown to him during a deposition in October, according to court records unsealed this week.

In the deposition for a lawsuit filed against him by Carroll, the writer who has accused Trump of raping her in the 1990s, the former president mistakenly identifies the author as his then-wife Maples in a photo of the two at a 1987 NBC event.

“I don’t even know the woman. I don’t know who — it’s Marla,” Trump said in the deposition from his Mar-a-Lago residence when shown the photo. Pointing to Carroll in the photo, Trump said, “That’s Marla, yeah. That’s my wife.”

Carroll’s lawyers interjected, telling Trump that it was Carroll he was pointing to.

“Oh, I see,” Trump answered.

Trump told The Hill in 2019, after the allegations from Carroll had surfaced, that the writer was “not my type.”
Trump previously claimed to have never met Carroll but later said he had been made aware that there was a photo of him and Carroll shaking hands at the NBC event.

Trump married Maples in 1993 after the birth of their daughter, Tiffany. They divorced six years later.

Carroll sued Trump in 2019 for defamation after she said he lied about the incident and vehemently denied the allegation. The deposition was unsealed this week after Trump’s lawyers dropped their opposition to the records being made public.

In other parts of the deposition made public earlier this week, Trump continuously insulted Carroll and threatened to sue her in the aftermath of her lawsuit against the former president.

Trump said his accuser was a “wack job,” called her “sick, mentally sick” and argued “there’s something wrong with her in my opinion,” in other portions of the deposition released this week.

The trial for Carroll’s lawsuits is set to begin in April.

I’m beginning to think his impassioned “primacy of the rule of law” speech was a veneer on a different reality.
