Now that I have a more permanent living situation, going to set up an area to use for growing.

Really don't want it to be 100% permanent yet so I am not doing major work. Plus I'm lazy.

Any comments are welcome. I am trying to apply things I have learned or read on this site and other resources, but mainly this site. I have no other motive but to get better at growing by watching others here. Not searching for any infamy or otherwise just a goodtime and growing as this is my only hobby for now along with attempting to supply my own medical needs.


I have made poor decisions and failed alot. Working towards doing better, this site has alot of inspiration in many different forms and many different personalities. Thanks

Working in a partial basement approx size of the area is 10×12. There is a spray foam on block walls but moisture seeps through on the floor.

There is open crawl spaces to the rest of not closed off and I don't want to close it up until after this year so I can see how bad the water gets. There is signs of up to 4½ inches of flooding but I don't know if it was due to a faulty sump pump or a drain backing up.

To counter this in case of a flood I built a temporary floor out of wood that can be raised up and additional 4 inches with bricks.

I tried to clean the rafters with a shop vacuum and broom but the dirt is too much to get all of it so decided to use tents in order to hopefully easier control the environment.

Closing off the 2 sides that are open with foam board.

There are windows in case ventilation needs to be increased but am going to start with an attempt at using ambient atmosphere.

How's the humidity?

As of now the temp and humidity stay around 65 / 65. I keep the furnace in the house at 65 and the basement stays even with it.

In the past I had been using forced intake air in addition to exhaust fan. I think that has to be overkill so decided to try to just open the vents on the back sides and cover them with a filter material to help keep dust out. With the tent zipped up and fan on low there is now a slight negative pressure. 6 inch exhaust with approx. 4 foot of hose into a filter.

I have the bottom watering pots that I want to still attempt to use in at least one tent and also have a small floraflex basic kit to try top feed automation. I have to thank bk for that since I lurked his grow.

The nutrients will be jacks and I do have r.o. not sure if tap water is useful because i used it on house plants and cannabis and it caused issues. At the time I didn't want to try to figure out what was wrong so I just went back to ro

I have used both a soil mix and different coco in the past. Basically whatever was available at the time. Coco seemed easier for me so thinking about sticking with that.

Saved $10 a sheet using this poly board vs the pink board or blue board but now it looks like a Styrofoam cup been in a blender then dumped all over.

Went ahead and ran a circuit for each tent so they can be shut off easy upstairs if needed.

Some of the existing wiring was sketchy at best and dangerous in a few spots. Made repairs to what was visible so far. The new wiring and breakers for the grow makes me feel somewhat better.

Have debated in my head whether or not to use gfci outlets. So far decided to use regular heavy duty outlets. If all goes well, may switch to gfci
