When would you flip these?

Yo everyone,

Hope your all good?

So I’m currently growing Royal Runtz from Royal Queen seeds at the moment and they have slowed down big time on the vertical growth side but are getting bushier every day.

This will be the first time growing from seed so I have a lot more info about the strains I’m going to be growing where as before I didn’t really know specifics.

It says as you can see on the pic that the finishing height is between 90-130cm. They are at 36cm at the moment day 43 from seed and are showing sex. Im really in two minds if they are really ready or not, do you guys think they will reach a certain indoor max height in veg?

Thanks

Pics would help. There's no correct answer tho. Its all dependent on your growing environment, grow style, limitations, etc. You can flip when ready. U can flip according to size u want. Some wait til it gets a certain height. Or til the nodes interchange. Longer veg equals bigger plant. Long as u did nothing to stunt growth like over/underwatering. Lighting can play a part also. To much light can stop plant from stretching almost like a ceiling. Not enough light might take longer to reach desired size. Once plant gets to half the size u want flip it. The stretch will fill out the rest of the area.

You are the first guy that i know off that compares breeders height soo he can flip.
There is no max height.outdoors they stop growing because they start flowering

If it states by the breeder that the indoor max height is between 90-130cm that’s why I’m asking the question, as I thought it would of been down to the genetics that’s all

Not being an ass but I noticed you’ve been here a bit and have a decent amount of posts so kinda wondering how you don’t understand the process yet?. Imo it would do good to crumple up that breeders chart and toss it
All good, you ain’t being an ass… I understand the process but there’s many things on this run that I’ve never done before, LED & growing from seed being a just a couple of things. The main one being I ain’t done this since 2013 so apologies if im asking a few questions, just needed a bit of reassurance that’s all

There's a lot of factors at play that will determine the height, you can assume the height will double when you flip if you haven't grown it before. Being your first time growing from seed, I would flip now. When I first started, short veg times were crucial for me to have a smoke able product. If you flip when your plant is healthier, you'll actually get a bigger yield than when they are vegged longer and stressed most times. Quicker veg times will also let you go through seeds faster until you can find a nice plant you like to keep a clone of. I haven't been growing that long, but I def. grew out over 100+ seeds, had some ok stuff, but only found 2 plants that I really like, and 10 or so that were worth keeping around.

Strange thing to write
.if they said from12h max height okej but they give it at random like saying we did it at this height and got this much product

unless your growing under the exact same conditions as the breeder its just an estimate.
variations in light intensity/schedule, nute strength, humidity, temperature, veg time, etc. all affect growth.
IMO figure out your max headroom and veg to 1/3-1/2 that height.:peace:

Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated! Here’s a few pics of them at the moment as requested.

Leaves have been showing signs of too much N recently so backed off on the nutes, again… another learning curve, I’ve been feeding the recommended EC off the feed chart on the lower end of the scale (1.2) but not accounted that they wouldn’t need as much due to being under LED.

Flushed with calmag the previous two times till run off then I’ve just started introducing A&B again today at 3/4 strength, they seem to be bouncing back a bit.

The branches look thick and node spacing looks tight too imo.

As you can see they are really bushy.

Theres one mutant that started growth really weird, she seems to be one of the best ones too! (Last pic)

Another thing you can try doing is to keep your daytime/nightime temperatures close. Too far of a swing between the two can cause stretch( supposedly)

All depends on what your tent can handle, height wise, and what your yield expectations are. IMHO, unless height is an issue, I'd let those veg a couple/few weeks longer. They look great, and you're still at the point where you could LST the crud out of them to keep em low.

U didn't defoliate u lollipop'd. And kinda extreme imo. Some do more so it's preference. I would've taken off big fans and left more branches. I only cut what had no chance to reach the top or get light. Usually u wanna remove leaves that cover each other or bud sites. They clean on the lower but still bushy blocking light. I would maybe spread out the branches to get light in.
