Growing up in DC there was a bar downtown called the Screaming Eagle or something close to that. When I was a kid I thought it must be a biker bar because everyone out front was wearing leather. Once I was old enough to understand adult things a little better I realized it was a gay S&M club. You had to be careful at the bars downtown. Some would have gay nights and straight nights and if you picked the wrong night you'd be the worst dressed in the club :bigjoint:
I lived there mid 70s to mid 90s. Great party town. I somehow survived.

I was born there in the 60s and moved out in the 90s. All my family is still there and it's nice to go visit but I am done with the big city lifestyle. The drinking age was 18 for beer and wine when I was a kid and if you looked 16 most places wouldn't card you. The bars downtown near K st would cater to the HS kids. Crazy times back then.
