They didn't trim like they do today. Those are basically raw buds, the Columbian I had didn't have the sugar leaves on it, lots of seeds though. The Thai was killer. The Columbian had a smell that would give you the munchies and it was pretty stony. The Oaxacan was basically cola's and it was up there in the stoned ratings.
A long time ago my mom asked why I trash the leaves? lol

Mine went from $200 to $250 but my inexpensive guy stopped doing it. I know it's gonna be crazy. I miss the $150 days. Kinda wish I had access to more land I'd drag it out like I used to.
I was able to get $220 cords last spring but it had to be a minimum of 3 cord. No way it will be that cheap this year..Ima look into burning some seasoned softwood next fall and following spring. I have some blow downs for that. I will definitely have my eye out for free wood like I used to.

I'm not doing softwood. Wouldn't that creosote up faster?

I have not noticed extra creosote but it's also very dry. Seasoned softwood burns very clean. You don't get a whole lot of BTUs but its perfect for fall/spring days and not getting the house 80° like with hardwood. Nighttime I'll throw on a few sticks of oak or maple. Softwood is also my main source of kindling. Assache to split, but I enjoy it.
After burning pine/spruce fall of 2021, I noticed no extra creosote when I cleaned the chimney fall 2022. But like I said, I only use it during days of fall and spring and it's dry as a popcorn fart:D
