I mason jar all my weed. By the time it hits 6 months I consider it junk. I don't understand how people are saying they can keep it for a year or more.
Gotta be completely dry to store long term or it’s gonna be that brown brown. I have had weed years old, no exaggeration that was stored properly that smoked just as it would at 6 months in the jar. Once you pop that seal it’s gonna stabilize to your relative humidity and smoke that way.

Storing it for years has always seemed odd to me. What's the point of that?

In my limited experience growing, the better smelling plants smoke great right when they are dry and a cure helps but doesn't fix the hay.
I'm not talking about hay smell. Nobody likes that. I'm talking fresh green dank bud as opposed to long cured "losing the green" degrading bud.

I'm just adding anecdotal evidence to support that fresh buds are great when the cultivar is potent and has good terps

And I may add theres a reason why growers try to time their harvests perfectly when entering cup "competitions". They are not entering 6 month old/cured bud.
Edit: At least that I know of.
