Super Cropping Question with pictures

I'm growing a couple of Sativa plants side by side a mostly Indica crop. The Sativa plants had grown about a foot over the light and two feet above the other plants. So, I decided to super crop them. Now they appear to be still trying to grow vertically from the top, rather than grow a new off shoot, is this ok? I thought super cropping was similar to topping in that it would cause two or more off shoots to grow laterally from the bend point. Any knowledgable members, please look at them and let me know if I did the super cropping right and if I need to do anything else at this point.

Actually, here is a plant that has been super cropped, notice how there are now two main stems growing laterally. This is what I was trying to achieve:

Anyway, if anyone actually has experience with this method, I would really appreciate your insight. I'm trying to decide if I should just top it, b/c I'm flipping to 12/12 in a week. Please advise, thanks.

What type of light are you using and how far away it it.....I supercrop all the time..i also bonzi and i top.......It kinda looks like your plant was too little to begin with....It looks like its just growing up (not enough wattage or the light too far away) You did it the right way but your plant looks bare....give me some more info about it

ya ive done a little with the cropping, but in the end i ended up just topping the plant and to me it was more beneficial because i had more bud sights that grew out of the plant. either way just get ready for some massive growth during flower.

you've done it right, top it too but what you've done is good...the idea of supercropping is not to make more branches grow from the bend...it gives the smaller side shoots chance to catch up with the head you've supercropped, it will strengthen the branch too..it is only a good thing... and you've made a good job of itt dude...if you're gonna top it, do it now, give it at least 4 days before you turn em.

The first plant is about 2', the second plant is about 18 inches. Am I supposed to wait until they are trees? All the info I have read says you start when they are about a foot. These are Sativa not Indica, so they are more lanky. You sure you done this before?

I understand exactly what you are saying (I think), and that is my problem actually. When I first bent them last night, they were pointing down (the way I thought they were supposed to be), and the top/tip of th eplant was lower pointing laterally, making an upside down L. Then this morning, the tips/tops started growing back up towards the light. I thought super cropping would encourage them to keep on the same growing plane, causing them to stretch LATERALLY.

Oh abnd one more thing, from pic 4 i'd say you need to give em a drink and watch yer pH, looks a little high to me, should be 6 to 6.1

COOOL! How many nodes down from the (former) top should I go when I top today?

no, if you supercrop you end up with 6 or 7 main heads, all around the same height (ish) if you dont supercrop you end up with 2 or 3 main heads and lower branches, you'll get more yeild supercropping

Yeah pic 4 is Lucy, the smaller one, she is always whining about something. Olive oil is a much happier lady.

Can you please tell me which specific characteristics lead you to think the ph is high?

As for needing water, are you referring to the droopy leaves? They are always droopy just before the lights are about to go off, and perk up again when they come back on. I always thought that was normal no? I just watered them Friday night and was going to feed them Monday night (every 3 days), do you think I should go down to every 2 days? Are you familiar with HEMPY? It is a bit different than soil in terms of PH and water schedule.

Wow, I didn't know there would be that many, cool! I hope I did it right!

I go 2 nodes and the original top
Will do, thanks!

Keep me updated man with pics, you gonna love what happens in a few weeks time.
Yeah man check out my grow (in my signature) I'd love your feedback. Thanks bro!

Answer the watering/ph question on this thread first though, lol, thanks.

on pic 4 you have slight yellowing which could indicate N def, you also have some (again) slight yellowing on veins...this says to me, high pH, if your pH is too high it will lock out N and Zinc plus others, which will show in signs such as yours, lower it to 6 to 6.1.Dont water/feed your girls to some calendar dude, get to know em, check the plants weight when almost dry and again after you've watered her, then leave her again until her weight is back to almost dry....she'll pay ya back man.

From what I have read and experienced, Hempy tends to be more like soil than hydro and prefers a PH of 6.2-6.6 I've been TRYING to buffer my PH to 6.2 (mostly yellow with a tint of green in the drop tester) but sometimes it's a little more green than yellow.

Yeah, it's kind of tough to get to know 21 different plants. But I agree, it would be best to water them based on individual needs. Pitty about being a stoner with a full time job, lol...

So, I just topped these two girls. I went down a total of 3 nodes from the very top. I dipped the tops in rooting hormone and put them in oasis cubes under my T5 to see if I can produce viable clones from them. Cloning from the top is tough, but we'll see. It is better than just throwing the tops away from the start.
