Hey, was wondering with the fox farms nutes. It says for seedlings and transplant for 1 tablespoon so should I follow that or cut it in half just to be on the safe side. Also two times a week?

I've never used Fox Farm but I can give you perhaps the most important piece of advice I was given when I first started growing. Always, always, ALWAYS start low with the nutients and then move up only if you have to. It makes diagnosing problems 10x easier and its much easier to increase nutes than to have to correct problems by reducing. So yea I would say start with 1/2 or even less and the plant will ultimately tell you if it needs more. I haven't seen a feed chart (from any nute company) yet that wasn't way over the top.

Thanks for the input! Ok yeah I’ll cut it in half for sure then. What are signs that the plant wants more, or even too much?

Forget the “ feeding schedule “ by fox farms too.
Those amounts are too much , always start at a lighter amount - guage the plants response to it - not too dark ( leaf ) or other obvious issue. Fox Farm products are highly concentrated- so less is more.

Ha. Well there are a million symptoms for various deficiencies/toxicities that all look similar. The beauty of starting low with the nutes (assuming everything else is balanced) is that You'll mostly know whats going on should problems arise. Good luck!!

Theres really no need to. Happy Frog has enough good stuff in it to keep you going for at least a few weeks to a month. I pretty much grow only hydro but I have used happy frog outdoors a few times. Theres others on here that know way more about it than me.

Happy frog doesn’t have a lot of added nutes, I wouldn’t go more than a week or two without adding nutes. Ocean forest has more nutes, and I usually go 2-3 weeks before starting supplemental feedings in it.

Believe me when I say “less is more” when attempting a grow with FF nutes…..and synthetic nutes in general.
Their feeding schedule is quite ridiculous and won’t accomplish anything except ending up with a dozen bottles of this and that, all with colorful names and enticing claims.
If u give a plant everything they recommend, you’ll have an overwhelming salt buildup in your soil. FF knows this which is why their schedule includes a periodic flush, which requires their special flushing agent.
Im not bashing FF…..most all nute companies engage in the same over zealous marketing.
All I can say is the plant can be grown to perfection using a lot less than I ever imagined.
Your Happy Frog has been amended with some nutes already, so I would start with about 1/4 of what’s advised on the bottle.
I’d also give water only between feedings….this should keep the salt buildup from becoming an issue.
You do not need all 268 different concoctions they sell. There’s a ton of overlap in the different products.
One more tip…..add additional perlite and 15-20% earthworm castings into your Happy Frog and it will help things along.

I ran FF line-up before and these comments are the exact truth. The companies need to sale product to remain profitable, so little bit of this and a little of that. Before you realize, I got like 8 -9 different bottles and powders and all I knew was what I read. I run organic now and wow, tons easier. Not trying to sway you away but once you do both you will have a better understanding for what I'm saying.

I run Down To Earth. Top dress with ewc add sea weed extract. Recharge 2 times 1 in mid veg and 2 at the stretch. Feed bloom nutes in flower. Check into Budzbuddha posts. He has answered your post a little earlier. Anyway read some of his posts and don't forget to thank him. Lol he knows what he is doing. GL!

No not really, layer your soil at start and it's only water for the first month. I have never flushed because of salt lockout. Don't really care what ph I'm running. No ph up ph down. Organic is way more forgiving. Like I said, not trying to sway anyone. Just for me my shit looks healthy. Currently growing this.That sounds more complicated than Fox Farm!!

Truly, all you need is grow big, big bloom, and tiger bloom, maybe calmag too (NPK and calmag). The rest of the stuff is basically unnecessary and results in very expensive runoff! I have grown with FFOF soil and the fox farms trio nutes for many years, never had burn issues, feed, then the next cycle, just water, try to get 10-20% runoff, and plan on doing at least one flush about the time they start to flower. Best of luck.

Yeah those the the three that I have. I’m just gonna cut the dose in half on the bottle it calls for 1tablespoon so just gonna do half for seedlings
You stumbled onto some very valuable info and a handful of relatively experienced growers willing to save u lots of time and money.
You should definitely read the posts by Buddzbuddha regarding an entire grow with Fox farms ocean Forest and very little else. It will shift your paradigm and give u a much better understanding of how a plant gets from start to finish.
I was in your shoes not long ago and his posts completely gave me the tools to complete indoor grows that are predictable, problem free, and, most importantly, bountiful. His wisdom also encouraged me to tweek things along the way, which has led to even more growing success than I thought possible…..for a hack like me anyway.
For the record, I also tossed aside the synthetic bottled nutes long ago in favor of simply mixing (into my soil or medium of choice) in 3-4 dry organic ingredients and simply watering.
Previous comments are totally correct about this style being more forgiving.
Lastly, phytoplankton is giving u golden advice about just running the big 3 FF products. Do it the way he describes…..and don’t be tempted to water too often. Water slowly….really slowly when you do, but don’t water again until u can lift those pots like a feather…..that means the soil has achieved dry status and needs water again.
In the meantime, find the Buddzbuddha thread on Ocean Forest and take it in. I wish I had stumbled on it years before I did.
One more thing….don’t ever take advice from anyone whose plants look worse than yours. The proof is always in the pudding.
My last harvest is pictured. 3 diff strains that all had differing needs, with harvest times almost a month apart…
