What happened?
I lived there and used to night dive for tropicals, never had anything happen other than I got nose bumped by a shark one night.

they dropped us out in the middle of the ocean and said go over there to that corral reef. I lost my mind out there and got bad vertigo. Puked my guts out and fed a swarm of fish with my puke . Never again. Not interested .No thanks, I will pass. Keeping my feet on the groundhere on out.
Guantanamo bay was awesome as well as many places I don't remember the names of.
We held swim call on the Cay Sal banks many times & I remember seeing a nice Queen Conch shell on the bottom & bet a couple of the other guys snorkeling that they couldn't get it - - - I ended up going down & getting it & had Conch for dinner. Quartermaster on watch said the water was 72 ft under the keel (ship drafted13 ft) but I've actually passed 100 several times.
Bummer - sounds like an irresponsible charter dropping you so far away. I've been skin/scuba diving, spear fishing, shelling, collecting fish since I was a tot, grew up in Philippines and the Keys so I've been in the water some. Lol
And not Navy - Coast Guard.

Diving in the bottom of my swimming pool when all the relatives were over was fabulous.
Finally quiet?
Turns out very few people bother to look into the deep end of a swimming pool in November or December and if you have a nice wetsuit you can get a pretty good nap
I used to be able to hold my breath for 2.5 minutes depending on exertion but don't know if I could nap in that time.

Anderson is being retrofitted. The started last year or 2 years ago.
We had flooding here in town a couple times. They've had to shutdown 101 in Gilroy... I wanna say, 3x now. My cousin lives by Calero and he's been evacuated twice that I am aware of.
All is good here. Starting to have a little more time. New position at work is busy and stressful but not like it was.
I'm looking to move but don't know where. I'm trying to get away from people. Looking at a spot in Nevada. 2 acres 3k sqft.. still looking at Colorado Springs too. Not sure I want to leave CA. yet.

I thought about leaving but it would be too much of a culture shock now. Telecommuting opens up a world of possibilities.

Calero. I haven’t been there in so long and I can only imagine how many more homes have been built out that way.
i almost guarantee that Guadalupe creek, which i lived across the street from has been causing all kinds of problems.
You could always do like me. I live about 25 min from town on 10 acres still in California lol. Away from people for sure. Pretty safe from fire where i’m at now but god damn does it get hot up here in the summer compared to where you’re at.
i’ve been thinking Oregon bro.
