Talking someone out of suicide is not a bad thing and this is the same thing. If you know a friend is gonna fuck himself over a lie, you should warn him, it's the friendly thing to do, but it might take some guts and caring.

I guess it depends on how much you value the friendship. Some mighty fine people possess the cognitive defect, and if not talking politics is what it takes, it seems a small price to pay imo.
They might not care about their sexuality and normal politics, but they do care if they are fucking fascists, Hell bent on destroying the country because of their character defects. It goes to morals, ethics and values and while you may avoid discussing politics to keep the peace, the gulf in values and understanding is still there and they are clearly on the wrong side of it and history. Your opinion of them as human beings is diminished by their base behavior and idiotic beliefs that Trump helped to reveal in all its ugliness. It's past the point of a mistake or error in judgement, that ship sailed in 2020 and 2022.
