GOP senators: Bipartisan legislation can prevent another derailment like one in East Palestine
A group of Republican senators called on their colleagues on Wednesday to support bipartisan rail safety legislation aimed at preventing train derailments like the one in East Palestine, Ohio, last month.
“The U.S. government must provide the American people with the security of knowing that what happened to East Palestine will not happen again,” Sens. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said in a op-ed published by Fox News.

The three Republican senators introduced the Railway Safety Act alongside Democratic Sens. Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Bob Casey (Pa.) and John Fetterman (Pa.) earlier this month, after a Norfolk Southern train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in East Palestine in February.
The bill calls for increased safety requirements on trains carrying hazardous materials, as well as more frequent inspections and higher fines for safety violations.

“The path forward for this bill is clear,” the group added in the op-ed. “The Senate majority leader and the president have pledged to do what it takes to make it law, and a bipartisan group from the Ohio delegation has introduced similar legislation in the House of Representatives.”

They appeared to take particular aim at their fellow Republicans, who have pushed back on the legislation.

“This legislation should be of special interest to our Republican colleagues,” the group wrote. “America’s railroads run through their rural districts and red communities. When derailments occur, it is predominantly Republican voters—their voters—who bear the brunt and who rush to put out the fires.”
The op-ed was published ahead of the Senate Commerce Committee’s hearing about rail safety on Wednesday, in which lawmakers are set to question the CEOs of Norfolk Southern and the Association of American Railroads.

See. Pigs do fly.
After they and trump gutted regulations that would do exactly that, they have the fucking nerve to say this shit, like it's the democrats refusing to cooperate that caused this bullshit...
How the fuck is anything supposed to get done when you have to work with miserable fucking assholes who lie on every exhalation?

A functioning democracy depends on trust, good will, an agreed-on set of facts and a shared basic concept of reality, little wonder America has been dysfunctional. That is fox's crime, promulgating lies and an alternate reality that is pulled from their assholes, who drives the culture wars when fox and republicans conspire on a false narrative and the RNC talking points mesh perfectly with fox's, who often mesh with the Kremlin's. A house divided cannot stand and America's enemies have allied against it. Where would the republicans be without foxnews and the culture wars? They are morally bankrupt and at an ideological dead end, WTF else do they have left but hate and fear?

100 local news stations will cover the same news in the same way using the same facts, they don't make up those facts, they just report them, and the internet is full of all kinds of news about a variety of things from many countries. Unfortunately, the internet is also full of bullshit too and any fool can have a TV studio in their spare bedroom. That's why you should only trust reliable sources that use professional standards and practices. It is also ok for them to have a POV about right and wrong and to support liberal democracy. When it comes to liberal democracy the press does have a bias, as it should, it's called a free press for a reason and liberal democracy is necessary for it to function. The press tends to be "liberal" because it is mostly educated people who know WTF is going on, which is why they all think Trump is a crook and his supporters are dummies. Even foxnews calls them "cousin fucking terrorists" FFS while they lie to them and lead the suckers on, that is contempt.

This is why the republicans fear Trump, they know he can fuck them on his way down and need to suck his ass all the way over the cliff and on the way down. If he turned on them after losing the nomination or before, they would be screwed nationally, with just 10% of their base following Trump into the political wilderness. Not even cheating, gerrymandering or foxnews could save them in 24, if Trump went rogue in a bigly way.

If republican house members are loyal to Trump, they will be in NY, leading protests on the courthouse steps, if not they are RINOs! Ya couldn't design something as effective as Trump for destroying the republicans and it appears foxnews too. He wiped Jesus off the political map and brought the GOP to unimaginable lows and out right treason, even made many of them allies of Russia FFS. That takes a "special" talent!

Why the GOP can't quit Trump no matter how much of a disgrace he becomes

Stuart Stevens, former Republican consultant talks with Alex Wagner about the way in which Donald Trump has so thoroughly taken over the Republican Party such that, contrary to conventional narratives, there is no viable alternative for the party to turn away from him, even as it is reduced to a party of white grievance.

In a move that we’ll like see again and again, Trump’s legal team has moved to quash the entire special grand jury report coming out of Fulton County. Harry evaluates the merits of their legal arguments and whether it has any chance of impacting Fani Willis’s indictment plan.

More proof that Mannish Traitor Queen is the stupidest person of either (both?) genders in politics...
https://www.newsweek.com/marjorie-taylor-greene-predicts-huge-win-donald-trump-if-indicted-1788676?spot_im_redirect_source=pitc
while the results of trump running and being indicted are pretty obvious, that doesn't stop her exercising her almost superpower level stupidity to go the entirely wrong way with the information...
I hope there are more like her, and they split the republican party from asshole to appetite. Donald winning the nomination under indictment or inside a prison cell would be ideal. Even if he lost it and just siphoned off 10% of their support nationally it would doom them, if he had his own party and slate of candidates, so much the better. That's why I'm in no rush to see him inside a cell yet, the GOP is paralyzed while he is still running around lose and their primary fight will be a blood bath. Independents in particular seem to have very short memories, so as much shit as possible as close to the election as you can.

Why the arrest of a Trump-loving Chinese billionaire should worry the GOP
Guo Wengui, an associate of Steve Bannon's who is charged with fraud and money laundering, has supported conservatives' antidemocratic efforts in the U.S.

It’s about time the American public became more familiar with right-wing billionaire Guo Wengui, a fugitive wanted by the Chinese government who’s been known to back American conservatives’ antidemocratic efforts.

To the extent the exiled tycoon is known to the public, it’s largely because he’s a business associate of conservative media provocateur Steve Bannon’s. In 2020, Bannon was arrested on Guo’s yacht off Connecticut and federally charged with fraud. NBC News reported at the time that federal investigators had been sniffing around GTV Media Group, a company linked to both men. (For the unaware: GTV is known to spread pro-Trump propaganda, including a conspiracy theory about President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, as well as misinformation about Covid-19.)

Last week, Guo was arrested in New York on federal charges of fraud and money laundering, stemming in part from his alleged role in redirecting $100 million invested in GTV to a high-risk hedge fund for the benefit of GTV’s parent company — owned by a close relative of Guo’s. (Guo has pleaded not guilty.)

Mother Jones has been among the most dogged outlets to report on Guo and his ties to right-wing extremists in the U.S. On Friday, the outlet published a thorough write-up on Bannon’s relationship with Guo and GTV, which you can read here. (Bannon, who has not been charged with any crimes related to Guo, did not respond to requests for comment from NBC News and Mother Jones.)

Last summer, Mother Jones also published this helpful write-up on Guo’s support for efforts to overturn former President Donald Trump’s loss in the 2020 election.

But Guo’s investment in right-wing causes goes deeper than that. Last Friday, The Verge reported that federal officers seized about $2.7 million from the decidedly pro-Trump platform Gettr, which is popular among conservative extremists.

According to The Verge:

Guo, an exiled Chinese dissident living in Manhattan, is a prominent Trump supporter and friend to Steve Bannon. A 2021 Daily Beast report revealed that Guo was an original investor in Gettr, where he touts nearly 900,000 followers as of publication. Jason Miller, a longtime Trump adviser and former Gettr CEO, downplayed Guo’s role at the company at the time. In the indictment, prosecutors allege that Guo manipulated his online audience into investing millions into cryptocurrency and anti-CCP media scams.
Guo’s indictment calls into question the extent of his influence over the conservative-friendly social network Gettr. As part of the Justice Department’s investigation, authorities seized a total of $634 million from 21 different bank accounts last September. Around $2.7 million of that money was held in a Gettr account, according to the indictment.
Questions abound, such as: Where else in the conservative media ecosystem could have gotten some of Guo’s money? Given his deep pockets, one has to wonder whether there are other beneficiaries. If so, who? And why?

Let’s hope the feds find out.

Idaho GOP Women Deny Girls Free Tampons in School

Idaho State Rep. Rod Furniss offered his fellow legislators a lesson in basic biology this week.

“Boys and girls have two Ps: peeing and pooping,” the reasonable Republican from Rigby said from the House floor on Monday as the co-sponsor of a bill to provide free menstrual products in public schools. “We know that the proper role of government is to cover the two Ps. Well, surprise, we just figured out [in] 2023, that girls have three Ps: They have peeing and pooping, and period.”

fuck, what's next? why the fuck do these goddamned idiots think they know anything about how to run a school? or anything else? Getting elected to an office by a bunch of inbred hillbillies who shouldn't be allowed to vote doesn't make you an expert on anything except how to get elected by profoundly stupid constituents...
Don't try to administer schools, banks, hospitals...fucking anything, except your own district, which is probably in need of a LOT of help.
