Strange Mutation....

This is not auto flower. They were derived from seeds advertised as photoperiod.
Hate to tell you - seeds can be mislabled and shipped. Especially those shipped without blisterpacks or original packaging.

I’m sure if we surveyed the room - some hands would go up about not receiving what they thought they bought or received BUNK instead. Here’s looking at you Nukeheads and Greenpoint. :finger:

Not had it happen to me yet but ive seen it happen to quite a few yes folk getting autos instead of photos or regs instead of fems mix ups do happen

Ok well then sounds like you hit a semi auto pheno mate its not so much a mutation as an adaptation proly a recessive gene from way back strains like bedia morrocan Sinai from Egypt lebanese etc are all that way by default as are outdoor things like say guerillasgold erdpurt etc so its luck in your case i think i could be wrong but sounds like
It was all possible when an Ice Cream Cake feminized seed produced a male plant. With his pollen, I fertilized a Colombian Gold landrace and a Godfather OG. All three plants bloomed very early because I couldn't give them enough light. Once pollenated, I let the two ladies die natural for more seeds.

Let me ask more clearly. Where did the seeds come from that you originally grew? Why can't you get more?

Yeah it have to be in the genetics somewhere already as cannabis cant just evolve that fast it takes time so if its the case it was in there to begin with
Fast flower strains happen - not a mutation - latent autoflower trait … This creates a strain that carries the autoflowering gene but is still light-dependent.

Something that was part of its original lineage.
Regardless - it can have some benefits.
Thats only in the f1 gen if its the fast version thing like sweet seeds and others sell basically a f1 photo x to an auto that vs a semi auto thats usually worked to be so or has adapted to be so for a long long time like say morrocan or turkish things like that

I started with three feminized seeds, one Godfather OG, one Colombian Gold landrace, and one Ice Cream Cake. I had light problems, and first the CG and GF bloomed female early in veg state. I tried to revert them, but they were in full flower at about 8 weeks. The ICC I almost killed--tried to grow her outside...didn't work. I brought it in, and transplanted it in a grow bag. It nearly died, and when it showed signs of reviving, it began showing male flower clusters. NOT banannas. It was fully male. I used his pollen on the blooming CG and Godfather OG. That was 2 years ago. I have grown around 75 plants of these strains, and they all bloom female, anmd very early. ALL of them. Both strains. So I grew the seeds I'm talking about.

Have you tried to reproduce what you did? Including the ICC abuse? The problem for me is that although it produced pollen and those seeds were fertile it seems stable and no males have been produced which makes working with the strain not feasible. Guess you could clone those females remaining.

I used some bag seed for pollen, and had mixed gender and no early bloomers. But I got 6 foot plus monsters that had to bend at the ceiling...

lol, awesome but that does not answer the question, do you mean the plants reach maturity or do buds actually start developing without changing to 12/12?
Female flowers develop with 18 hr lights at 5-6 weeks. I've been growing these for two years now, and have not had a single deviation.

At this point cloning or cloidal silver treatment.....

Hi electric, I may have news for you. I recently saw an interview with the King of Feminized seed, Arjan. He said that out of maybe 50,000 feminized seeds you will get 3 or 4 that are stubbornly and completely male. He couldn't explain why it happens but that is alot of seed cracking to find out.

It is the early flowering that has my interest. At less than 2 months old, they are flowering nicely.....

Remember, this is NOT my first grow with these plants--I have been growing (and smoking) them for two years, and both the early flowering trait and all feminized trait have been 100% consistent.

I have stumbled on a couple of self-developed strains that seem to have a strange mutation--they skip the vegetative stage, or combine veg with flower stage, flowering by the 6th week. They have never had less than 16 hours of light, and have been on 18 hrs daily since week 4. At 5 1/2 weeks, I saw my first flowers yesterday, and this am a second plant is showing female pistils.
Over the last two years, I've grown around 75 of these plants, and they never vary in this early flowering trait.
The strains involved carry no Ruderalis genes. They are Colombian Gold landrace, Godfater OG, and Ice Cream Cake.
This is a genuine mutation. But there's a problem. The handfull of seeds I have left are dwindling, and I have yet to produce a male plant for pollen. But that shouldn't mean dead on arrival.....

I've been growing these for two years--around 75 plants total. They never vary in early flowering, and have never been short on light. These plants are 5 1/2 weehs old.
That sometimes happens due to inbreeding or if parents with hidden mutations or semi auto flower are used. Ice cream cake is made with genetics know to cary mutations. Is your godfather the original clone or from selfed seeds, and your colombian gold any idea were its from or if its pure ? Some sativas you can put straight in to 12/12 and they sort ov veg stretch and flower together. Some sativas never finish they will just keep growing new branches out new bud. Should be a interesting thread. If you can try and get some closer pictures please. Thanks

Also some plants just start to put out pistols earlier than others, mostly indica types or from clone. Some landraces have plants in them that are semi autoflower as sometimes they come from areas the light cycle dont change. Png, zamal, and many others around the equator can have some semi auto plants while most of the plants from them might take 20 weeks to flower indoors.

Another thing some breeders do is add autos or semi auto into their genetics to make them bloom faster . You may not be able to tell straigh away and they wont usual auto and should be photo but going into f2 and picking a male or female that blooms very early you could select back for the auto gene in the plants. This is why its so important to know the pedigree of your strains and parents if breeding. At least if something popps up later you can put it back to a certain parent going back in the genetics.

It’s likely due to the landrace strain, I know of a few strains in my stable that are not far removed from landrace genetics that will flip under low light or under stress. My theory is that this trait derived most likely from tropical strains, wild sativa’s.

Pacific Seed Bank for the Colombian Gold landrace and Godfather OG. Gelato Seeds for the Ice Cream Cake.
Thanks for the pictures electrichot12. Can I ask the flowering time of your colombian as im fairly confident coming from Pacific it would have have something added to it to speed it up. Most of the genetics from there can be doggy, many know to auto or semi auto when they are not supposed to. A landrace or heirloom colombian gold should average about 14-20 week and really be on the longer side of that. Ive not herd of gelato seeds before but that cookies plant is a mutated mess made by some amature hacks that got lucky so the gentics are highly inbred an prone to some odd things. Ive see cookie and gelato plants stuck inbtween veg and flower constantly and they wont go back into veg or into flower. Just keep testing yours, and if your happy with the results thats all that matters. Keep us update with how you get on please. Thanks.
Ps. A little tip. This is ment for anyone who is growing and buys seeds. Use these forums to look for completed start to finish grows from multiple people when you are thinking of buying seeds from a particular seedmaker or breeder. Check out and look for multiple good reports on seedbank/seed distributor. If your finding it very difficult to find any start to finish completed grows across the boards of even one of the strains out of many from seeds from a place you are looking at then be aware as there must be a reason for that. Stick to the makers who have had a track record from many satisfied people which you'll see on the board and who has been around awhile. Just be careful, because some places are not giving what your asking for and paying for.
