The New York Police Department (NYPD) has ordered every member of the force to report in full uniform on Friday as a “precautionary measure,” following former President Trump’s indictment.
“All uniformed members of the New York City Police Department are to show up in uniform as of 0700 hours on 03-31-2023 as a precautionary measure,” a spokesperson said on Thursday night.
The police department consists of about 36,000 officers and 19,000 civilian employees, according to the NYPD’s website.
Trump was indicted on criminal charges on Thursday in the Manhattan district attorney’s yearslong investigation into the former president’s involvement in a 2016 hush money payment.
Shortly before the 2016 presidential election, Trump’s then-attorney Michael Cohen made a $130,000 hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels in an effort to buy her silence about an alleged affair with the former president.
Trump sparked concerns about potential violence earlier this month when he called on his supporters to protest and “take our nation back” in anticipation of his indictment. In a post to Truth Social last week, he warned that criminal charges could result in “potential death & destruction.”
Steel barricades were put up outside the Manhattan Criminal Court and the Manhattan district attorney’s offices last week, as the city braced for a potential indictment in response to Trump’s comments.

This was the main reason trump moved to Florida in the first place, because the Governor must sign extradition authorization. So by not signing it desantis can keep trump on house arrest in Florida.....lol The whole while desantis tours the country running for president....lol lolYa, Desantis is smarter and more mature. I was impressed that he said he wouldn't assist in helping extradite Trump. Even though Trump has been talking mad shit. I think that shows some character. And it's smart just to stay out of this mess.

Oh, I'm familiar with how it works and equality under the law begins with indictment before a judge, made by a grand jury and presented by the prosecutor. Once the charges are enumerated a plea is taken and then the judge sets conditions of release, based on submissions by the prosecution and defense, and the seriousness of the charges. With other defendants who have made threats to the prosecutor prosecting them, that is a separate and distinct crime and usually calls for incarceration pending trial. Equality under the law begins with the judge and means that Donald cannot be treated any better or worse than other defendants charged with threatening prosecutors who were prosecuting them for their crimes. Many legal experts have said that Donald's public statements have constituted such threats under NY state and federal law.No he'll be in his fancy jet posting on Truth Social and raising money. The Manhattan DA isn't the one that decides. It's a Judge that will be making any decisions. The DA brings a case before a court. A Judge presides over it. The DA's job is done until they go to trial. He can make recommendations and requests but ultimately it's up to a Judge regarding any bail, conditions of bail, gag order, etc...

Picking a fight with Disney is a terrible look, but I think he has to be loud and proud with doing stupid things to court the primary voters. It's why he can't sit back, he knows if he loses his momentum it likely isn't going to come back. He has to stay in the news that is relevant to the voters for whatever the upcoming election is and the primary voters like stuff that doesn't sell to a larger audience.
Jim "lil piss baby" Abbott could come in from the wings to go for the more moderate ones if desantis and trump split the weirdos. A moderate republican would do well against Biden imho...but those are conservative democrats now so....

They don't have to deal with prosecuting him, it makes him look like the traitor he is, it removes him from the world political stage except as a side show exhibit, and it would discredit the magat republicans even more completely, if that is at all possible.

If the republicans had any sense, they wouldn't hold a primary, they'd just pick a sensible candidate, and put all their resources behind that person, and fuck the magats...fortunately for the rest of us, they don't have any sense...and primaries are probably required by law, even if the whole idea is just kind of silly. It's never been about picking the best candidate, it's been about picking the most popular one, which just illuminates the next flawed link in a broken chain.
