Just a word to mull over - some prosecutors have been know to take the tact that if you reload you are "looking forward to shooting someone".
I use expensive LE ammo in my carry weapons to negate that argument.

Yeah, they used to try the same argument with loading alternate ball and hollow point rounds in magazines. I like to alternate in case I have to penetrate cover or someone has a bunch of layers on in the winter. I carry Speer Gold Dot HP 10mm and basic ball ammo when I go to town. Here, my pistol is just for feral dogs or scaring a bear away that gets too nosy so I like having the hard cast rounds. In the house I have long guns for defense. It's sad to see the tactics they'll try to use on a legal shoot but drive by shootings hardly got attention in DC when I was a kid.

I alternate between two 1911's, one is a standard issue slicked up & sporting timminy trigger, hammer & internals + a set of crimson trace grips.
The second is also a series 70 lightweight commander and both are full to the brim with 230 gr H/P.

You peaked my curiosity. Google says 1-3 yrs full time for K9 SARS certification . So that guess could still be low for single purpose training

Some dogs may take to man trailing quicker than others. Bloodhounds, stubborn and challenging as they can be to train, usually pick it up
pretty quick. Course that tracking drive is their entire purpose in being "A nose with a dog attached" unlike Belgian's or GSD's who have to engage and detain suspects (mutli-purpose) as well. LE Depts. usually don't have the finances to have both types of dogs so they have GSD and Mals. You are constantly training with a BH to be a really good handler.

Dads friend had abandoned black belgian shepherd/mal on his farm asked if dad wanted him. Old, half blind, arthritis, skinny. Great dog. .turned into the shop dog. One time dads worker was chasing another guy, messing around. Lucky, the dog, went for the guy getting chased and ripped the back pocket off
his jeans.
