Day 33:

Everyone is looking pretty happy & healthy. However one of them is getting some orange spots that kind of look like calcium deficiency.
No nutes have been introduced yet. This watering will have added calmag 4-0-0 & kelp me kelp you (Foxfarm) Which I will be giving once a week during veg. Figuring that will be about 2-3 more weeks.
Here’s some new pictures.
#1 which is also the one showing spots.
New growth looks good, so I clipped those 2-3 leaves & she looks better now though the tops are uneven. I’m not sweating any of that small stuff until

#3 The tallest so far from the soil & loving that light.

#4 The wandering stalk isn’t looking too shabby.
Even the growth right at the soil level looks good considering it’s hit with water daily.

Considering their size I’m hoping just one remains in the end. I rather not have to prop up a smaller plant in such a small space.
I’ve also acquired some pretty nice packs over the past couple of years. I’ll have something lined up just Incase I don’t get lucky with a female.

Viparspectra’s 420 sale starts the 17th. Don’t sleep on it if you are thinking about scooping one or a couple of these XS1500 Pro leds.
Discount code: Hydrokid239 gets you an extra 8% off on top of the 420 discount price.
I recently watched Migro’s review & par testing on the light and we we both blown away.

Thanks.
They’re in recycled ocean forest soil. 1:1 with ewc. No added perlite.
I’ve been feeding them leftover veg nutes from feeding the others.
Feed, water, water, feed. Mostly GH maxibloom powder full strength, with calmag once in a while. Athena blended line some days.
Watering/feeding them every other day, though they dry back daily. They stretch up top a little when I let them go bone dry. Nice time to take clones.. which I usually do. If I don’t have space for it, someone will.
I have cuts of them all rooted, and ready to veg & prep for the greenhouse in a few months.
Even if I don’t need cuts, I dotop them, and have removed tops from previous toppings because they get all bunched up. I go against the grain & let them sit in any run off. The double cups/container both have a root mass in between. In the plants cup that has the knot in it, there’s aplastic cap off a water bottle spacing the 2 cups apart. The other cup hangs perfectly by the rim. More space, so more roots. They’ve been pruned on multiple occasions. I’ve even bottom fed that one with the roots being the way they are. No adverse effects.
They’ve been pretty good to me. Keeping them in cups & taking clones has worked. Soon I may replace these with their younger versions. I want to keep at least one to see how long it can go in the cup. Maybe a bigger coffee container with the lid cut to fit the cup.

The taller lanky plant with the stacked nursery pot on the cup is a newer clone from the coffee container. That’s actually the mother I took the clones I’m running in my 3x5 currently.

Hi!
Excellent grow. It was nice going through the pics to see when the deficiency started. Those dead spots are not from calcium IMO. They are from a Mg deficiency that may have already cleared itself up. Look back at day 30 and they appear between the veins more as yellowing than dead spots.
Mg deficiency is common in early veg and often takes care of itself after the root system spreads. I prefer a light dose of Epsom salt for those occasions.
Happy Growing!

The spots have progressed since on that same set of leaves. I clipped them so I didn’t have to see it. I transplanted them on day 20 into fresh ocean forest & use city tap that sits at 144ppm lately & ph at 7.6
Here’s a closer peek.

I haven’t ph adjusted any water given since day one. I also thought I’d have more than a week in fresh soil before another transplant was needed, or a feed implemented.
I’m thinking maxibloom, epsom, occasional calmag, using potassium silicate (Athena Ballance) as my ph up (adding enough to bump ph to 8) before I add anything else. Unfortunately it doesn’t take much, so I need to add rice hulls to the “gotta get sum” list, so at least in the future I can give more to the soil for the plants.

Nice day, HydroKid!
The plants are all looking good, the spots should be recovered soon.
Which one do you think you will leave under the lamp in the end?

Thank you for your promotion of 420deal, friends who want to buy plant lights, don't miss it!

I’ve got a good feeling on #3 being the sole survivor. Instincts could be off, as I’ve only bumped into 3 male plants in 3 years.
If they all happen to be male, I have back up plants To turn to.

Day 36: Growth is really starting to take off. I’m hoping they don’t get too out of hand seeing how #3 is blowing up.
I was just in & out of the grow today so I got some lazy pictures. I will take more later on if the individual plants.
#4 is on the left, #3 is on the right. You can barely see the tops o

From up top it looks like #3 was planted a week before the others.

The plants were topped on 4/6 and placed in water + in a flower tent. Today I checked on them and #3 is just showing off now. The first one to show roots.

#3 is in the middle taking up the most space.
I also took a snip off the banana Kush that’s in flower so I can run her a 3rd time. She’s reveg & be small forever.. I’m ok with that. It may go outside in

#2 had to be removed. The stem is too small, so I am able to keep it in the water easier this way.

Here’s just a random pic I took of them last night after their 1st feeding.
Also a look at the tops taken & tossed in the flower tent. 9FCC4132-B0F6-4122-84E3-2F8CDD81B872.jpeg3DE49573-3096-4EB2-954B-5AE352BBCDEC.jpeg3715E780-0E7B-4BBC-B9D9-A577C540CAFA.jpeg
Feed mix:
6.6ml of Advanced nutrients Sensi calmag xtra
And 1/2 tsp of GH maxibloom.
Next feeding will be after plain water is given twice.
Epsom will be added next watering @ 1/2 tsp per gallon.

Hitting day 47 now. I believe I may have found another male.. maybe.. However, I also believe I found a second female. :hump:
The cuts were taken April 6th (Day 26 from sprout) Today marks the 3rd week it’s taken to show sex. Both females were the ones to push the roots out first. Both are in cups now m, and shacked up with the 2x2 jungle in the other side of the room.

Here’s pics of the discoveries:

This is #2
905C49D3-E9B9-4CEB-9C99-58ABAC1047C4.jpeg
A closer look under the loupe you can see pistils more clearly.

#4 I’m guessing, but probably spot on when I say it’s male. I see balls bulging in the center here.. it’s coming in between the growth as the plant is starting to rapidly develop for the stretch.
0E7D044D-84F6-4100-BD54-4A4EE886D99A.jpeg
I decided to have a little fun, and try something new.. I may have picked too small of a cut, but I’m going to attempt to graft a cut from #2 into the stalk of #1 (which was the first male found)
DC49C381-E685-4F52-BD62-E9083ADF021A.jpeg91EF07A9-E5DA-4F51-AA57-039280BF4349.jpeg5B98B587-7DDA-4F6F-BE7A-E1AEBD31C2C9.jpeg085044D9-DA21-47FE-A4C6-F7561895C1EE.jpeg

Unfortunately I didn’t have any stretchable plant tape, but.. electric tape will have to do. I pressed the sticky center together to block light somewhat. If it works, and the plant grows, it will just pry the tape open on its own as the stalk gets thicker. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

Crossing my fingers for this first time attempt, but it’s no loss if not. All gained experience. Next time it will be a heartier cut for sure.

More updates momentarily. Just getting it all together.

Day 47 continued:
Here is #2
She is looking like the one if I were to choose between 2 & 3.
Tighter node spacing, and overall stronger imo.

Compared to the spacing on #3

Honestly I’d rather not flower this one in such a short tent. So I may or may not keep them both in the 2x2. Either way, I found some small cargo nets meant for the back of a scooter or motor bike. $8.99 for a pair of them, so I bought 2 sets.

3rd plant is still in there until I find out for sure it’s a male. (Or I may just cull it off my assumption)
