i get that, but it seems like a poor reason to build what is basically a crippled robot, when a different design would make them much more efficient...
They don't give one shit about how comfortable workers are, and haven't for....fucking ever...why start now, in a way that lowers efficiency?
Form follows function and if you want industrial performance, then buy an industrial robot. If you want one to work in an office or with humans in general, or to do the jobs a human does, then build a simulated human. The UPS truck might be self-driving, but the delivery will be by bullet proof robots in America! One day something is gonna have to collect the guns from the nuts with fantasies of blowing away the feds to protect the 2nd, it might as well be robocop and robodog, the ATF agents will be down the road having coffee in a van.

because the corollary of acceptance is marketability.
i understand that, i guess i'm commenting on human irrationality, more than on poor robot design...
"this utilitarian designed robot will work 500 times better than a robot designed to look like a human being."
"hmmm, i like it, but could you put a head on it? and shoes? and a nose?...?"
"But the lack of those things is what makes it 500 times more efficient."
"yeah...but it would make people like it more...."

i guess i'm the odd one out then...again.
I would rather buy one that looked like a black box with metal arms...It's a machine with no personality, and i don't want it to have one.
I don't want to play chess with it, or go on vacation with it, or discuss the news with it. It isn't a person, and i would rather it not look like one.
vacuum the floors, feed the turtles, then go sit in the corner till i make a mess...
Look at it like this, say you pay a guy to deliver packages like UPS and pay them 100K per year, but you can buy a robot for 200K (made mostly by robots) that can do the same job, fuck up less and doesn't worry about getting shot by a lunatic. If it worked as advertised, then people would buy it and lay off the guy who was doing the job. Or a drone could deliver the parcel and drop it in front of your door which is happening now. Navigation in the sky is easier for robots than on the ground.

about time they closed this loophole. Some of these places are a blight, the only thing you can see from their cabins are the cabins built as close as possible to the next one...

It isn't quite this bad, but it's getting there...It definitely detracts from the view when the view is 150 cabins crammed together on the mountainside across from your cluster of 150....

Open AI predicts that 80% of jobs can be done by AI or automated in some way. We haven't even got to humanoid robots yet and there goes the rest. A life of recreation and luxury, or useless mouths warehoused by the rich while they live in Elysium. Elect democrats and get the future of recreation or republicans, where you will get the other, but it will sure trigger them libs to be in one of them thar warehouses, with me! They'll stay in that damn warehouse and keep you there with them, as long as the brown folks get some and foxnews can brainwash morons!

Trouble on the way? I never looked into this much, but a Carrington event would be a very bad thing in today's world! It will be goodbye to those on the internet. Goodbye to the power grid too and with that goes the entire financial system. Fortunately, this is not expected to be that bad, but we are only one solar fart away from technological destruction.

Google pushes egregious crap. Astrology sites. Something called “the Archaeologist” that pushes stories that would make Tsoukalos blush (but searches on it yield nothing). Sites about celeb wardrobe insufficiencies.

It’s just this side of the chumboxes lined up below each article promising unbelievable remedies for belly fat and skin tags.

This is an RC pilot with a digital FPV system at over 30km and his altitude is more than 88 meters! It must be in someplace where they don't regulate FPV much. It does show what relatively cheap commercial hobby equipment is capable of and how it can be adapted for war. All that electronic gear could be put on much bigger plane, one with a bomb!

Their ads are all over; I’m drowning in them. They’re a Chinese online merchant selling all sorts of crap for spectacularly low prices. Their app drips with spyware and multilevel marketing.

more about Temu.
