Looking for advice on when to harvest. Don't want to cut too early.

You should be good for a week or so at least if you can get rid of most of the decaying leaf matter that's tight to the buds. You could also try dimming the lights a little bit so they have less stress. Not much, just 10-15% would give them a chance to ripen up some more.

I would not cut any tips off the sugar leaves at this point only pluck the onesthat are in the buds. The rest you can get a trim time but make sure and trim all that off or it will be harsh. Next run ask for help when you start to see the issue and people will help you correct it faster.

Yes true... I asked too late into flower when all the damage was made... Look the leaves started to get purple but I thought it was because of low temperatures at night because I had the windows open and it was near freezing... but later with help of some people over here I found out it was light stress... So yeah but the damage was already made... Next run I know not to go overboard with the new LED which grilled my plants.

Ok so as soon as the light goes on I try to cut off all the sugar leaves that are dead inside the buds...

The rest I will cut off at trim time...

Would you dry trim or wet trim with this run? I like wet trimming but I was thinkin about dry trimming this time so I can have a longer drying time to not get the hay smell... but If I rist bud rot this time it may be better to wet trim right?

You may (probably will) have the hay smell unfortunately. It is a symptom of an unhealthy plant. I am not sure if anything will help when you dry it but it might a little. I’ll let some other weigh in.

You may (probably will) have the hay smell unfortunately. It is a symptom of an unhealthy plant. I am not sure if anything will help when you dry it but it might a little. I’ll let some other weigh in.

Well all screw up, don't worry about it. You'll do less but you'll still mess up especially the better pot you grow LOL don't stress just plant more seeds and keep on learning.

As for bud rot do as @Cboat38 and @FirstCavApache64 and remove all the damaged leaf material.

I chopped a couple nice females early on as I thought the swollen calyxes at the lower branch sites were balls and they had hermied on me. Nope just single calyxes that were swelling in flower. Oops, you live and learn lol.

I was thinking about that but I was also thinking I would only spam this place with my less than perfect grow and people would not be interested in it... So I was not sure if I should open a grow journal...

I have new seedlings running right now... I am thinking maybe it's too much light again but idk lol.

The first 2 seedlings stretched a lot since I was starting with very low light intensity because I was scared to give them too much again lol... The next seedlings didn't stretch as much as the first two but now they show some signs of stress... It's either not enough nutrients or light stress... And I think it's light stress...

Getting a light meter, even if it's just a cheap lux meter, will be a very valuable tool for you. A quantum meter is the best but it's a little expensive for a lot of home growers. A decent lux meter will allow you to get ppfd numbers that will allow you to have repeatable results with your light intensity which is a big part of getting your grow dialed in.

I have a Lux meter... I also use the Photone App on iPhone... I was reading good reviews and the Photone App on iPhone is about 5-10% in range of a apogee par meter. I don't have enough money right now to buy a apogee meter but I think the app or the lux meter is ok right now... I did not use the photone app with this grow because I did not get good readings but that problem was my fault because I did not use the app as I should be.... It was intended to use with a diffuser on the camera lense and I used it without a diffuser and got bad readings... This time with the seedlings I use a diffuser but as I said I think I went overboard with the light after the first two seedlings stretched too much LOL

I'm documenting a lot offline. Like all the environmental infos and pictures so I can get to them later if something went wrong... But I think an open grow journal for others to see is good to have too! Will open one as soon as I havve enough time to do so. I'll see what people have to say about my seedlings lol... They don't look too bad. Maybe they will grow out of it or maybe it was just too much.. We'll see! I'll tag you once I'm done! Thanks a lot for your advice about the harvest questions. I can't wait for the lights to go on so I can remove the dead plant matter lol!

I think I will use both... The Photone App and the lux meter... The Photone App said 255ppfd and the lux meter was 16,000 ... when I convert that with the lux to ppfd converter it's about 259 ppfd... So I think they are both close but I think it's better to use them both so I can get a feeling with both instruments.

Hi guys...

I started to cut off sugar leaves and it took a good while but I stopped... I don't know... I have to cut almost ALL sugar leaves becuse all of them are damaged and almost all of them are damaged close to the buds...

Also when I was cutting away some sugar leaves I cut off some buds too and sometimes I could only rip off the leaves and they were ripping up the whole stem... So I had to cut some of the stems and top buds off...

Some buds are very hard to reach and work on since the area is a little bit too big to reach over the whole spot and to work comfortably...

I don't know... Maybe I should call it a day and let them grow 1 week from now on and then cut them and trim them wet and cut off every leaf I can find... Maybe I will cut off some more buds in the process but it doesn't matter if it's small buds as long as they are smokeable...

What do you guys say? I'm not optimistic to cut the sugar leaves off right now since I do a lot of colletareal damage and some buds are hard to reach and so on. I think it's better to let them grow another week or so (since they were growing this damages way for about 3-4 weeks now so 1 week might not hurt them). And then just harvest them and put the energy into a sucessfull harvest and trim instead of trying to get everything off now... I dehumidify so maybe I am good for the week to not get bud rot.

I'm starting the next run so yeah... This run won't come out perfect anyway so idk if it's worth the risk of cutting/ripping more strems and buds apart. I should just let them be for another week or so and just harvest them... It's harder than i thought to cut off all those sugar leaves. The buds are hard and dense I have to bend them a lot and even then I sometimes cut more than just the very very small sugar leave petiole.

I already have some buds laying around lol... maybe I should just let someone smoke them and ask them if they are potent and thats it lol...

idk.. I'm lost.

Dry them in an oven and try it. If you don't get it dry enough it will tend to smoke harshly but you're looking at the high profile if you like the high or it's tolerable and you're sick of this grow, chop. Sometimes you just cut your losses and start again. Anyway every time you grow you learn. Whether success or failure your next grow always benefits from your previous.

If it's too hard to get the leaves out then just try to keep your humidity under 50% until you're ready to chop. A week more shouldn't be too risky if you have good airflow and humidity. Then just try to do the best you can getting the dead leaves out once they're more manageable for you.
