This is my 2 pesos … there is no need to do Brita water. Happy Frog / fox farm ( same company ) utilize in medium buffers ( oyster shell ) and will buffer straight tap water.

Second , zero reason to check runoff.
Third , Do not water on a “ schedule “. Only water as needed. Plant will dictate how much time in days between before needing next watering. Plants look overwatered. Overwater can also cause deficiencies, things that may look like an issue but because roots are getting waterlogged and uptake interfered with. I would keep temps above 80° and lights out temp nominal.

The most obvious to me is the fabric pots sitting in a catch pan. They need to drain into the pan not sit in runoff.
The cheapest and easiest solution are these cheap plastic crates from Walmart …literally.

Those pots do not need to stay soggy - that will suffocate the roots. Plant needs oxygen ( hence the fabric bags - they breathe ) and will contribute to a more uniform wet-dry cycle.

I may have jumped the gun on swapping the light. I really wanted to play with my new toy. I got it for $300 and was super stoked because it's been out of my price range since it dropped, so this sale seemed like a blessing.

Pretty much like every one else here, I'd guess.

I put my humidifier in. It's just a cheap little bedside one. RH currently up to 43%

I looked up that VPD site mentioned. According to that site, I should be around .75VPD. If I can get VPD in range, I'll slowly lower the lights as long as the plants don't get upset.

If I can't get the environment under control by wake up Monday, I'll swap the MarsHydro back in

AFAIK, 0.75 is low for veg so I checked the Pulse site and they've updated it (that's a good thing). I wouldn't run a VPD of 0.75 in veg. I use 0.8 for seedlings, 1.0 in veg, and then 1.2===>1.4 as flower progress.
The graphic indicates that 0.75 would to be OK but check the verbiage and it says 1.0.
That's academic though - we're rooting to get below 2.0!

I wouldn’t hang on VPD charts or light recommendations…. Your own environment and plants will dictate.
As long as you have good baseline temps / rh can be controlled but since they are still relatively younger plants , I wouldn’t over think it.

The Gavita is the better light. Your humidity is probably a result of the soggy fabric pots and excess moisture.
‘You do not have to be spot on according to any chart. Plants do not follow calendars or paper numbers.

Treat it like a house plant.

Speaking of calendars - I personally would shit can that . No reason to micro manage a “ soil “ grow.
If and when , you need to feed it. A simple once a week feed would suffice.

Doing this and that plus looking to chart numbers and ML of product leads to disaster.

It’s the stigma surrounding cannabis - like you have to treat it “ special “.

It is literally like a tomato plant , you plant it , you harvest it.
‘Even most Veg nutes for vegetable gardens would work …. No stupid cartoon bottles with “ hyped up bullshit names “.

Bud Blaster 5000 or MOAB , Bud Candy , Super Duper Grow juice or whatever.
Those multi-bottle nute lines want only your money. Any simple 4-4-4 or 5-5-5 dry fertilizer will work from start to finish.
Even those 2-part nute lines that have a “ grow “ nute and a “ bloom “ nute ….. that’s it.

Damn near can pee on the god damn thing and it will grow.

The calender is for reference, not necessarily doing it by the numbers. Just a record of what was done. That way, if I screw up majorly I don't have to try and remember what I did. Got hit in the head with a sledge hammer a few years ago. Memory is a bit fudged up

My career was ended by a windshield. TBI's really suck! Keep hanging in there a calendar is a great idea and I would miss every single appointment but for my phone's calendar. Be patient with yourself and if I haven't already said it welcome to RIU.

Veg Day 8

Swapped MarsHydro back in. The Gavita was too hot for my tent to stay closed. Couldn't hold the humidity up. Tent is closed. Climate is finding itself.

Picked up some risers (crates) on the advice of Budz. Plants are off the ground. Oscillating fan is back to oscillating.

Turned the lights off for 3 hours last night to let the humidity build up and see what happens.
Air temp dropped, humidity rose, leaf Temp remained stagnant for a while, but eventually cooled a few points.

All of the plants responded positively to this, but had a quicker negative reaction when lights came back on.

Is there any benefit to using filtered water? I don't mind filtering it. My reasoning is along the lines of, cleaner water equates to a better end product? Or is water water and buds will be buds?
