Is there anyway to tell a plant is gonna be a great smoke on a new strain

I have 3 new strains I'm about to harvest that I never had before. Is there any factors that say this weed is gonna be a great smoke? Like if you have a ton of tricomes is in gonna be better smoke than a strain that has only moderate tricomes.... Any other factors that can determine this or not?

Well yes by smell, yeild, flavour, high and flowering times it all depends what your looking for.....

In my experience, the only way to tell is by testing some pre harvest.
I've grown some extremely frosty and healthy plants before that looked like sure fire turn into bunk smoke with no potency.
Then also grown some average looking plants that smoked up and got you very stoned..

Exactly what I meant thanks!

It depends on how cool the name is.

You could rub some trichs on a joint and smoke a little of its hash to try some maybe.

If you're getting close to end of flower, it never hurts to take a taste. Just snip off a small bud and let it dry and give it a go. Obviously a proper dry and cure will increase the smell and taste by 100 times, but it'll at least give you an idea.

You won't know if its great until you've done everything properly and smoked it. Snipping off premature branches and rush smoking it isn't going to give you the full picture at all. It'll be good, or it'll be bad, then note which plant did good and keep cloning it.

Patience is very important.
