Taking cuttings from an outside plant

Stupid question but I’ve heard from a lot of ppl that it’s never a good idea to take cuttings from an outside plant ? Is this true ? I want to hear it from someone who’s done it . My inside mothers are not looking too good and my outside crops are nice and green and wanted to take some nice cuttings off of them to start over .

It's fine as long as clean them. When I bring cuts inside, I first use a forceful fine spray to dislodge insects, then they get dunked in a bucket with 20ppm calcium hypochlorite.

Spray/dip the cuts with neem oil/water before bringing them in.

its because of the chance of bringing bugs n stuff from outside into your tent. are you just going plant it outside or in a tent

Thank you guys ! I intend to take the cuttings and start them inside for another indoor grow … I’ve been battling PM inside due to the warmer humidity of summer time … currently I am using lost coast plant therapy but doesn’t seem to work as good as it says … does anyone have any good products they use that actually kills it .

All my cuttings for my clones come from outside plants. Bugs and powdery mildew are a given so as long as you know that and take suitable precautions they work as well as anything else.

So the thing with PM is even tho you kill it on the surface with your last coast plant therapy, or the other guy and his zerotol, it's still inside the tissue that it infected. So ideally you want to remove the leaves you see it on and spray to kill spores. Usually it will keep coming back, ideally you want to use maintenance sprays to keep killing it before you see it. Keep using your lost coast plant therapy and maybe get your hands on some Regalia to boost the resistance of the plants. When you take your cuttings from outdoors soak the cuttings in your lost coast before you root them.

I’ve taken clones from outdoor plants, I’ve even sprayed a single branch on an outdoor plant to turn male and it worked just fine hit every breeding branch without random seeds in the rest of the plants
