Put more soil on top and watered it in a bit but check this out!

When you water, try to be easy with it so it doesn't dig the dirt out. No biggie.

You'll also get compacted soil over time watering that heavily. Find something that is more gentle if you can. No harm to the plant as far as the root being exposed short term, so you're good there. I am a wacko and I water with a turkey baster to avoid the issue. It's not for everyone as it takes a lot longer.

Lmao about the turkey baster and yea I noticed the watere hitting the top soil pretty hard I think I need to go slower for sure...man I hope putting this new soil on top doesn't burn my plants..I think they are far along enough to handle it tho

You'll be fine adding the soil. Don't sweat it.

Expanded clay media as a top layer works well to diffuse a water stream.

Yeah, that happens, no biggie just cover em back up. I handwater, and almost always forget a mulch layer so this is a regular occurrence for me.

That makes sense. It does grow a pretty nice stalk, with exposed roots air pruning into more roots

thats how they make those cool bonsai.i used to do it with a rock under the plant then when roots grow nice and big remove the rock and leave the plant above ground you get a octopus type of tree looking bonsai its cool
