I just have my filter outside the tent and the exhaust fan pushing through it. Probably gonna hang it inside the new 5x5 with the new led, but with a 630w de cmh in a 4x4 tent I needed that extra headroom in there.
Yes, that doesn't work if you are exhausting outside though.I just have my filter outside the tent and the exhaust fan pushing through it. Probably gonna hang it inside the new 5x5 with the new led, but with a 630w de cmh in a 4x4 tent I needed that extra headroom in there.
How did you end up supporting that active air filter ?Yepper. I had to go inline cause of my short ceilings. The active air works well and is a beast! It was the only one I could find but does a good job. I had to get a 4" for a 2x4 setup also but couldnt find anything. Ended finding one designed for a septic stack and it works good as well. I'll see if I can find a link..

I was just thinking about that. Wouldnt be a bad idea to disect a spent one and measure, or weigh how much is in there, in conjuntion with its intended duct sizebefore you diy and learn your fans aren’t up to the task:
Not all exhaust fans will be able to push or pull through the diy idea.
That’s why there’s so much surface area in normal filters. To scrub and allow air through without too much resistance.
It is easy, I used a cardboard box. One end of spiral flex duct connects to the tent, the other end screws into a hole in the side of the filter box and is secured with duck tape. The filters flange protrudes through hole in the other side of the box and connectes to the exhaust fan.I remember seeing an article or post about building a box around a regular carbon filter so that the intake on the filter sticks out of the box with ducting coming out of the other end of the box to exhaust the scrubbed air. Seemed like an easy diy project. A box with a hole on one side for the bottom of the filter and a hole on the other side for a duct collar.

A question about my 45x40x80 cabinet.
I'm going to make a small closet in the house a single plant cabin. I think with 1 autoflower and a nice lst this would be possible. Dimensions 40x45x80cm My question is, can I use a 160m3 fan and carbon filter for this cabin? Does this fan dry the air inside too much because the cabinet is...www.rollitup.org

Thanks - that was the cheapest. Just grabbed the 8 and 6". Hoping I can refill these in like 18 months or so.Wolverine 4" Inline Septic Vent Activated Carbon Odor Filter | eBay

Anytime manThanks - that was the cheapest. Just grabbed the 8 and 6". Hoping I can refill these in like 18 months or so.
I don't see how those can work, they don't have near enough airflow capacity... septic tanks don't have fans pulling air through them. Thanks - that was the cheapest. Just grabbed the 8 and 6". Hoping I can refill these in like 18 months or so.
Yep. Better to buy something designed for the purpose you intend to use it for and not something else.I don't see how those can work, they don't have near enough airflow capacity... septic tanks don't have fans pulling air through them.
The cylindrical inside of a common 4" x 12" long carbon filter has 150 square inches of surface area. The 4" circle of a septic filter has a surface area of 12.56 square inches.
10 CFM for fans that can move hundreds of CFM?

"The Wolverine Cub is an economical, residential, low flow activated carbon filter."

On the website I see no options for fan diameter, just the length of the filters. There is a 24 and 30" option. Is one 6" and the other 8"?Just to report back - I've installed the Active Air inline filters for my 4x8 and 4x4. LOVE the extra room in the tent. Worth the cost.
