Definitely think peat based mixes are better, high humic acid content =tasty buds and less supplemental stuff to buy. Also if you’re in North America peat sourced from Canada is way more environmentally friendly than coco fibers shipped from mostly SE asia
Can you explain what "supplemental stuff" you're referring to?
I'm no environmental expert.......but I do know that peat and coco are both organic.
Does the region of the planet from which they came make one more environmentally friendly than the other?

Humic/fulvic acid supplements. Shipping coco across the world uses a bunch of fuel. Europe used to burn peat as fuel so their supply is mostly depleted and its mining heavily restricted, coco fibers from Asia and Africa are a suitable alternative but don’t contain humic or fulvic acids it’s a more inert media than peat

Fuck coco if you are new to growing eh? Seriously. Get some Sunshine 4 or Pro Mix. Even Miracle Gro Organic. Organic. Not regular Miracle Gro soil.
I've been using coco for some time now, but this new brand of coco I have never used before and apparently it's already got nutrients mixed into the coco. It's pre charged. I'm going to stick with canna coco next time as it's not pre charged

I forget, do you use maxi or flora?
I'm in the original Flora series. It was all they had when I started. I keep looking at Jack's. But MaxiGrow/Bloom is interesting too. But the one that really piques my interest is this one:

I would love to try it but I'm a terrible gardener. After all the ruined, amended coco grows I've seen I keep hesitating.

I've messed with jacks. It's alright, but I like the simplicity of maxibloom. I bought some maxigro, just to see what the added N does.
