Sudan goes from bad to worse. The Janjaweed are allied to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) – paramilitaries warring with the army for control of the country. The RSF commander, known as Hemedti, was a Janjaweed leader in 2003. Like others, he has never faced justice. The UN warns with growing urgency that “crimes against humanity” are being committed in Darfur. It seems only too obvious where this is headed.

  • The European Union is considering a proposal to allow a Russian bank under sanctions to carve out a subsidiary that would reconnect to the global financial network, the Financial Times has reported. The move would be aimed at safeguarding the Black Sea grain deal that allows Ukraine to export food to global markets, the newspaper said on Monday.
  • Nato’s secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, is due to meet the UK’s foreign secretary, James Cleverly, on Monday.

Hungary will ask the EU for a one-year extension of an exemption from sanctions against Russia that allows refiner Slovnaft to export products refined from Russian oil to the Czech Republic, Reuters reports Hungary’s foreign minister as saying on Monday.

My mum will be in Hungary soon. I hope it doesn't blow up over there whist she is there. Will probably her last trip before she goes blind. Slovakia, Budapest and Vienna.

Vienna is beautiful. I’ve been there a few times. There is a way cool museum of timepieces at Am Hof. Being there when all the old clocks strike noon is an experience.

A one-nanohertz wave has a frequency of 31.71 years.

If we read nanohertz as under one millihertz, that’s frequencies from two weeks to a few years.

decent article, but scitech is a shady clickbait site...the headline -Shocking Study: Humans’ Ancestors Lived Among Dinosaurs and Survived Asteroid Strike. The info in the article - "A Cretaceous origin for placental mammals, the group that includes humans, dogs, and bats, has been revealed by in-depth analysis of the fossil record, showing they co-existed with dinosaurs for a short time before the dinosaurs went extinct."
that isn't even news, that's been well established for decades...
scitech doesn't out and out lie, but they sensationalize everything they can to get advertising clicks...

Yeah, I saw that, ancestors as in rats and mice! I didn't bother reading it though.

I thought the UV LEDs could be important in AC units and air cleaners, replacing UVC tubes in some applications. In light of covid, such air sterilizing features might be desirable or even mandated in the future.
