Don't just add water, then nutes. Make up your normal nute solution, and top off with that. Change out res after a few top offs.
I change the res weekly. When I top off I mix my nutrition with 5 gals of water
Something Under Current recommends is doing 50% change out of rez. Are you by chance doing 100%
Yes I change out 100% of the water. I had a little something starting to form on one of my air stones. It was difficult to spot because it was wrapped up in the roots

No I cut the lady's down and noticed a film on the air stone didn't think much about. Drained the water refilled and added 12% peroxide and let it sit for a few days. Came back to scrub everything down and had a like a foam algae or something floating around the top. So I drained everything and scrubed the hell out of it and added a bunch of uc roots. Let it set for about 10 minutes. Refilled res and IL drain again tonight
You can use diluted bleach for cleaning and it won’t hurt the plants. The stuff that’s in UC roots you can get a home generator to make your own at a fraction of the cost if you use it often. Just some options.

It’s a hypocloris acid generator to make your one UC roots solution. It’s the active ingredients in UC roots. From what I have read it’s one of the safest cleaners their is they use it in the medical field for sterilization.

No I haven’t gotten one yet as I’m still using up my supply of pool shock. I got 10lbs of the HTH pool shock so I figure I will use that first before I add more stuff to my collection lol. I should have gotten one when covid started for house cleaning would have saved a ton
Yummy stuff. Yeah boiling it may be the best way to get it throughly clean. You could snake a Clorox wipe through it after you boil just to make sure you got it all. It can be a PIA cleaning long lines but at least it’s 3/4 line and not 1/4
